Just wanted to drop a quick hello. I recently picked up a new red XT, which we all know is the fastest color. This board has already been a great source of info, and I have already found great responses to several of my questions (source of windshield rattle at 2000rpm, right side heat, etc..) http://i31.tinypic.com/n6ony8.jpg http://i31.tinypic.com/wh4wm.jpg http://i27.tinypic.com/e9u7b8.jpg |

let me be the first to welcome you and congratulate you. i'd say that i will be envious of you but next weekend i'll be picking mine up. i'll be doing black which doesn't matter to me cause i'd like to paint the color of my m2 anyhow. good luck, have fun and see how well that thing handles on the curves. |

Congrats on your new ride. Just be careful when you really roll on the power. Because the bags are the faster black, the bike will naturally want to spin around and go backward and leave the red behind. I've heard of many people being thrown when this happens. So for the love of God, be careful. |

Congrats on the new bike. Now all you need is mileage and some dirt |

Mileage I am working on, but I keep wiping the dirt off - new owner's syndrome. It feels great in the curves so far, and I am really enjoying the torque of the Vtwin (I am used to my 1000cc sportsbike). All in all a fun bike to ride. Question for the board - I set the suspension by the numbers according to the owners manual for my weight (the dealer told me there was only the XB12X manual). I read the XT has a different suspension set up - any recommendations on changing the settings or is it just a matter of rider preference? Thanks Dan (Message edited by djm on April 06, 2008) |

I have sat on the XT a couple of times and cannot get over the impression that the positioning is tighter than the X? Is it just my imagination? |

Djm, 99477-08YA
Pg. 80 XB12X Suspension Adjustments
Pg. 81 XB12XT Suspension Adjustments
With that being said, I adjusted my XT's suspension to what the chart says for my (guessed at) weight. I found, as someone else has commented, that the factory settings are all over the board. After adjustment, it is sweeter than ever! Amazingly, the only information available through the owners manuals section of www.buell.com is just the XB12X. 1313 BTW, The service manual that includes the XB12XT is 99490-08YA. Now, if the dang parts manual would ever become available... |

Since the suspension is more like the other XB's, I would set it up by the Ss manual and add weight for baggs. Until we hear anything else, it makes since to me. But what do I know. |

Just wanted to drop a quick hello. I recently picked up a new red XT, which we all know is the fastest color. Dan, Congrats and welcome to the board! Good looking bike (even if it is red). Glad to hear you're enjoying the XT and I look forward to reading a ride report once you've had a little more time to acclimate to the Buell. (As you've already experienced, there's a world of difference in the Thunderstorm engine vs an inline-4.) My Thrust Blue XT (emphasis on theThrust) is supposedly in transit to the dealer so hopefully by this time next weekend I'll too be able to join the elite club of XT owners. |

Towjam - congrats and enjoy your blue XT! Isn't that the 883cc version? Looking forward to hearing your reports as well... |

The XT table posted above works very well. I personally verified the 180-200 setting, and a customer who demo'd at 230-260 said it worked great as well. Haven't played with the "non-bag" chart yet though, as our bike has the luggage attached. |

Cool, thanks. I have mine set exactly for the 200-230 range with full bags, but haven't done any real riding other than my commute to work so the jury is still out. |

Envious... that is the only word I can think of right now. No one in the area has one to test ride, much less buy. There hasn't been a Buell demo set up in my area yet either. I'm going to have to wait to pull the trigger a little longer I guess. |

I'm going to have to wait to pull the trigger a little longer I guess. That may not be such a bad thing. Word on the street is that in the not too distant future, dealers will practically giving away the red XTs due to lack of demand.

My new bike is the orange (it is an 06) liked the lower cost and the higher seat. Finally a bike made for a 6'5" man. Just breaking her in, then I will see how fast the color is. Why? AND I am happy to be part of Bad Weather Bikers. |

I think I got screwed on my Owner's Manual. My page 80-81 describe changing the oil. Page 74 has the suspension chart for the X. Which after comparing the charts in the above post, it's worthless for my application. No mention of the XT in the whole book............. 1313, is that number you listed the actual part # to order a correct book? My book is basically the same number w/o the "a". Looks like I'm going back to the dealer..... |

Ulyranger: Sounds like the wrong manual was packaged with the bike. E=mail me your VIN and the P/N from the book you got. You dealer should be able to be you the proper one in a matter of a day or two. Any problems let me know. Enjoy! . . the XT looks like a FUN bike. Court |

Same thing happened to me when I picked up my bike. The service guys told me that 99477-08Y (XB only) was the only manual for the Ulysses. I just emailed the dealership and we'll see what they say.... |

Court, email sent. Thanks for the info. Going to stop into my dealer's today so will see what I can find out there. .........and yes, loving this ride. Best bike I've ever had. It's definitely a better bike than I am a rider, guess I've got my work cut out for me. Only cure for that is mileage. |

Same thing happened to me when I picked up my bike. The service guys told me that 99477-08Y (XB only) was the only manual for the Ulysses. FWIW, I grabbed the manual out of the crate as they were unpacking my XT last week and it was the updated manual. It doesn't reference the XT on the cover but it does include the XT-specific content. Either your dealer misplaced the manual, doesn't realize that it looks identical from the cover - or Buell didn't include an updated manual with the first shipments of XTs (unlikely). |

Well looks like someone doesn't know what they're doing. Because I received the wrong manual packaged with the bike. I went in to the dealers to get it straightened out and the little brain at the counter tried to CHARGE me for ordering the correct manual. We went around, and round for a bit Claimed he couldn't take the manual back in exchange because it was opened and used. I said duh, how would I know what manual I had until I opened the package? I wasn't backing down on receiving the incorrect product that I was quite sure I had adequately paid for. Finally the little brain instructed the fine young man that actually trying to help me to just order the manual and charge it to Service. Which probably means they'll just make it up on my first service...........an extra $21.50 charge hidden in there somewhere. My sales guy wasn't in today, otherwise I'm quite sure I'd have been treated better. It sure would be nice if one didn't have to deal with HD little brains to get support on our Buell products........... I can't believe I had to fight it out over a $20 Owner's Manual on a $13K purchase. I should have just went straight to Buell, they'd have probably apologized and just sent one via US Mail. |

Yesterday I had an interesting conversation. Went into a HD/Buell dealer and walked over to the Buell display. A friendly salesman at the desk next to the Buells said, "Can I help you?" "Yes, I was looking to see if you had one of the new Ulysses touring models." "No, we don't have one. It's not out yet." "Oh....When is it coming out?" "I believe about the middle of next month." "Okay, thanks. I may stop back in next month." (NOT!) Amazing. |

nim, if you want a good deal on a uly, go down to granite mountain outside of atlanta. they were gonna make me a great deal on the red one that they brought up to march badness. i tried to get barker to go down and get it but i guess he's pretty busy. if nothing else talk to larry green the sales manager. although i ended up gettin mine from the dealer i've been dealing with for the past 7+ years, i plan on going down there for service while i'm up in greenville. talks cheap. see what he's got to say. |
