Yep. Do it - brilliant mod. I just followed exactly this thread - http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/276601.html There is plenty of room - I just had to push one of the (right hand) heated grip0 plugs over to the other side of the cowl, and that was it. Used three zip ties. Although I did end up putting the horn in with the trumpet facing left not right as in these photo's. Wired a "master" hot from the battery with an in-line fuse up to the headlight cowl - just followed the existing wiring and put a few zip ties around the new wire. Split the wire in the cowl - to the horn through the supplied relay, and to my aux lights through another relay. Brilliant. The horn really works - saved me a few times lane splitting on the M25 in London.... |

Yep, super mod and I did the same as Bigkuri. Used the horn this weekend to blast some whitetail. This is one of my favorite mods. People will spill coffee when you let the Stebel sing on absent minded lane changers in the morning. |

I used the Fiamm Freeway Blaster... With 130 db and only 5 amps it's plug n play. The mini air horns draw much more (so you need a relay) and only gain a few decibels. Nice easy fit too:

I have dual Fiam's on my Ural and like them. Remember with db's over 100 every three doubles the loudness, so 106 is twice as loud as 103 which is twice as loud as 100 - or at lest that's how remember it from classes I took 25 years ago. If I am wrong some wiseguy will set me straight |

What relay? It works fine with plug'n play. |

Hmmm - Just looked this up and it's actually by factors of 10... So every 10 db you add another factor to get intensity but the perception is subjective. 130 db = 1013 140 db = 1014 Regardless, at 130+ they're all F'n loud! (Message edited by 08Uly on February 05, 2008) |

I think you are right - power doubles on the threes, but loudness is by 10....wiseguy! |

I've run two Fiamms on all my previous bikes. I like the dual tone-sounds like a BIG vehicle to the cages. Does Stebel have a dual horn setup? |

The best Stebel story ever, courtesy of ADVRider: Your greatest joy is yet to come. My first victim to the Stebel was a late 30's mom driving a Honda Pilot, cell phone in her left hand up to her ear, right hand turning the steering wheel left to place the car directly in my lane with ABS on full, screaming over her right shoulder to two kids fighting while watching a DVD in the rear seat. Cell phone dropped out the window, crushed by left rear wheel, hot Starbucks all the roof liner, two kids screaming with fear, a stunned carp look on her face. I couldn't tell, but I hope her thong was loaded as well. Once placed in proper use, you'll see that this horn is worth far more money. Best luck in your use on idiots.

Froggy, It's a little thicker (3.5"×3.5"×2.5") but fits nicely if you reverse it so it sits behind the stock mounting bracket. |

+1 yall The Stebel is definitely the most impressive all-in-one unit I've seen. Nothing like pressing that button on the unsuspecting cel phone zombies. A buddy of mine is an OTR truck driver. Stopped by the shop one day with a new rig, well outfitted- I started to notice a few extra horn trumpets down low, besides the ones on top of the cab. Turns out he had a real locomotive horn system, set up for his truck. THAT one takes the cake!!! Guaranteed to make you jump out of your skin. |

08uly, thats good to know. I already ordered the Stebel, but if it becomes too much of a fitment issue I will go with the Fiamm instead. |

OK, now I want one. Twisted sells them with optional mounting brackets. Do I need to order mounting brackets. Although the Fiamm plug-n-play does sound good. |

Chrisgrant-to my knowledge, the mounting brackets will not fit a uly. I zip-tied mine to the brace behind the screen. Yes, it is loud as sin. Its worth it over something cheaper, as they are much louder, and the instructions are stone simple(even for an idiot like me). get the optional wiring kit with relay for the extra $$. My 2 cents |
