For some reason, I've had trouble contacting a few people. If I have not gotten in touch with you and you sent me a message, please email me at joelmhinkle at cableone dot net.

Jmhinkle, I think you have the racks pricing worked out. I wasn't clear in my suggestion about the Twisted Throttle prices. What I meant to say was that they would be around the Buell retail price and you could base your selling price off of them. You got there but I apologize for the confusion.

My mother in law had the multistrada, great chicks bike but I couldn't wait to get off it back onto the uly, the thing runs like a sewing machine and is high maintenance.

She's now got sick of it snd bought a Moto Guzzi that is less demanding!

Joel- Sent you a PM- good luck with the 'Strada. I've heard they've been able to lower the maintenance costs, but that they're not very good off pavement- I think Multi Strada literally means "many streets". I'd love to see it and ride it around the block.

Joel,

I have a 1992 Ducati 900SS with 40,100 miles; I am approaching that exact same mileage on the Ulysses (in two years vs eight!).

The Ducati 2V engine is great, but even with meticulous maintenance (I do everything myself) it lost its main bearings at 40,000 miles; I did a complete rebuild myself (it's a pretty simple engine and I had the time). Best-sounding bike on the street with those Termignonis...

Everything you found wrong with your Uly seems right with mine. Who knows?

I do hope my Uly engine lasts 2X or 3X (or 10X) longer than the Ducati; even then I'm gonna rebuild that amazing relic and ride it another few hundred thousand miles.

Hope the MS works out well for you.

I don't want to start a , but I think it would be more fair to ask a 1992 Buell owner what their opinion is after 40,000 miles in comparison to your Ducati.

I've owned French cars with less problems than my Uly. I'm not worried about the Multi. Thanks for the info, I'll keep it handy. I do have to say that with some research, the newer motors seem to be excelling at mileage without issue. I'll be sure to check in 17 months later and let you know if my experience has been better, on par, or worse than the Uly. I can't imagine the latter.

My friend just sold his as the Ducati Strada as the "most boring bike in the world", so I hope to hell you have taken lots of test rides!

Bigkuri, I had about 3,000 miles on my Uly when I took a MTS 620 for a test ride. That was all it took for me to buy it. Put on 4,400 miles on the MTS since June. You don't need to take a lot of test rides on something that grabs you. I still ride the Uly too. Just not as much. I hope your friend finds a bike that excites him as much as the MTS does me.

"most boring bike in the world"

I give that to the Vstrom in all my riding experiences. Does its job without question, trouble or reward really.

Strada is far from boring. I would actually question his sanity because that just isn't a common thought when most people ride the Strada. Again though, it really is in how a bike and rider fit together and understand each other to make the bike boring or bad. People buy Tigers and love them and I can't believe Triumph calls it a motorcycle. It's just plain disgusting to me from top to bottom. All in the rider and bike combo. Me and the Uly didn't work out, but I have found happiness in the Strada. Rewards me in ways the Uly never did.

I should add that yesterday he's gone and bought a CBR600RR, so obviously a different boat to be floated...
Considering he went in talking about buying a strom - talk about buying something that grabs you!

When you turn on the MS, does it return the favor.

If the answer is yes, more power to ya brother.

How about a few pics of the new hinkmobile?

Tread,

So far I don't even have to turn her on to turn me on. Today is actually the big day for swapping. Rode her several times last week and made the deal as they were closing Friday night. I spent the weekend getting the Uly de-farkled and I just got it back together last night on break. Had to reflash back to '06 computer, reset TPS, de-foul the plugs and she came back to life. If I have time when I get home, I'll try to get some pics posted.

Good luck with the Multi Joel, I tried a 04 1000 and really had a hoot! Like you this bike fit me like a glove. A couple of things happened that convinced me to go with the Uly, turns out the Strada was a insurance write-off re-build and I wasn't convinced my wife would like the pillion accommodations. Also this model just doesn't seem to sell in Quebec, so low dealer support and crappy resale. ( but, I guess reselling the Uly will be interesting as well.) I really hope you keep us posted though, as this is a bike that just might be my next!

Front end of that thing reminds me of the Elephant Man. Hope it treats you well. I'll wager you trade it in on the 09' 1125X but you'll have to get in line behind me.

The Multistrada is NOT a boring bike. Actually, no Ducati I've ever ridden is. They have more soul than just about anything on the road. I love Ducatis, I just don't like the price and the maintenance. Well, actually, I can live with the maintenance, just not the entry fee.

No pics yet as I was late to work as it was because of picking the bike up today. I did ride into work and have to make a comment on this.

"Front end of that thing reminds me of the Elephant Man"

I was iffy about the front too until I started it up tonight to come to work. This thing has the best lights I've ever had on any vehicle. It puts out an amazing pattern and is almost pure HID white. It's even betters the projection and pattern of the HID's in my Lexus and those are pretty darn amazing. The other thing is that I think the Multi is kind of ugly in red, but just gorgeous in black. Color make a huge difference on the bike. And that suspension is worth every penny. I never thought a suspension could be worth the money they ask for Ohlins, but boy was I wrong. I can also say that I have no interest in the 1125X at all.

Chad, maintenance on the '07 and up Ducati's is very different from the old ones. Very much worth a consideration.

I can pay with PayPal.
