BlasTT I had a customer put knobby tires on a blast, an Acerbis dirt bike front fender, hand guards, head light grill and loose the rear fender cover. She was fire roading the hell out of it locally, till she relocated to Arizona. I have emailed her, but I dont know that she has a computer out at her cabin. So if you see a Black Blast with dirt bike fenders bombing through Bisbee Tombstone area, its her. |

Slicker, what the hell do they put in the water at your dealer, there are too many people in Washington state that Uly-ize non-Uly bikes.... |

I would also say give the Blast a try. It is an amazingly tough bike given the abuse we see on our Riders Edge range, and is easy to handle for a newbie. Women, especially, like it because it is "cute", which counts for a lot apparently. If she is actually wanting to learn dirt biking, go find an MSF dirt bike course and do it right. If she is wanting to follow around other riders, the Blast is capable of going most places any "dual sport" bike is, given the fact that most of those never see much worse than gravel roads anyway. A big factor for the Blast is that it is very inexpensive to repair after a drop, the turn signal stalks being the most likely thing to break off. Besides, used ones are very cheap to buy and you normally can get your money out of them on upgrade time. Besides, it gets about 90mpg ! (Message edited by ka5ysy on October 27, 2007) |

Blast IS a good choice for a beginner bike, but given Paulync's described usage, I'm not sure how it would do for that. There are certainly better bikes for off road use, many of which would be good beginner bikes. That being said, I have taken my Blast on dirt roads and it does just fine. |

The water is called R-A-I-N! and when you are too short for the ULY, but love the Buell, well you get creative. It was fun helping her build it, she did hers the same time I did mine, and she is full blown crazy on it, All Snowbirds in Arizona beware ;) |
