The rear brake light does not work. The light works when the front lever is pulled but nothing when using the rear lever. I looked thru the service manual but couldn't find anything helpful yet, I'll take the book to work tonight and give it a good look. I'm thinking that it is the switch, anybody else had this problem. I looked at my bike and just as with my other bikes there is an adjuster at the opposite end of the rear foot brake lever. As you push down on the other end with your foot that end pushes up into the brake light switch. It's a threaded rod looking thing. Yours just probably needs adjusting to push the switch in further. Give it a try. (Message edited by electraglider_1997 on October 02, 2007) |

Lduly, pull the wires off the rear brake switch and jump them,if if lights(as i suspect) replace the switch,if not you have a short piece of wire to inspect to the main harness. hope this helps,Bob |

Don't replace the switch unless you are sure it is adjusted correctly and then not working. |

I thought the rear brake light switch was pressure activated, and the adjustment was for pedal height. Mine works, but only if I apply enough force. |

I found the problem. The switch connector under the ecm came unplugged, too many washboard gravel roads I guess. Btw the switch is pressure actuated, the threaded rod is for pedal height adjustment. Thanks all for the replies. |
