I picked up my '07 Uly on Saturday. The tails are in the front rack position when the bikes are shipped. My tail has a white film on it on the surface that was against the seat. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm wondering how to remove this film or what to protect the rubber with. Thanks for any help, Mark |

Buell used to sell a padded cover for the tail. I don't see it on their website anymore, but you can probably get one if you ping a few dealers. |

Just put some armor all, rubber conditioner and you should be good to go. |

Mark, I had the same white film on mine. I either used a rubber conditioner (similar to Armor-All) or Honda Polish (that isn't labeled Honda anymore!) to remove it. |

Congrats on the Ulyssess! If you can get a good photo of the white film, please send it to me. I'd like to have the folks packing the bikes be aware in case the process needs to be modified. Thanks and have fun with the Buell! Court |

Whitish film? Been there... This same thing happened to my bike's tail, after the Buell dealer thoughtfully washed my bike. After doing the BAS, (I wished they would have asked, as I avoid washing with it water.) The tail material reacted to what ever was used to wash the bike. I used Honda Spray Polish (now just Spray Cleaner & Polish) http://www.parkeryamaha.com/index.asp?PageAction=V IEWPROD&ProdID=17189 to clean and "treat" the tail on my bike. This is some good product... Al @ American Sport Bike here's an opportunity for you. Ask your dealer if they washed the bike. |

Same film came on my bike and honda polish, s100 and water and a toothbrush and it still shows. Haven't tried armour all yet, bike was that way sitting on sales floor. I usually have mine forward with a bag on it so out of sight is out of mind for now. |

For all you Uly owners in Calif., don't drop by your local Honda shop hoping to find a can of this stuff as they don't sell it here anymore. I have to snag a few cans every time I go out of state. WTF? |

Strokizator See Teeps' post above about a source for the ex-Honda Polish. Honda doesn't sell it labeled as their product anymore, but the original maker still sells it. My local Honda shop stocks it now. |

Court, I've got an '08 Uly and have also noticed the white film/residue on the tail. |

FWIW, the brand new '07 I test rode a week ago had the whitish discoloration on the triple tail as well. |

I have a touch of it on mine as well. It reminded me of the residue/occidation you sometimes see on scuba gear. |

That is a picture I DON'T have. I'm sure with the right amount of time, money, and groaning to get the scuba gear on I can make it happen, though. |

The honda polish was re-engineered to meet cali dictates so they should be selling it again and it has been back out for a while. Even made a sidebar in cycle world when it made it's cali comeback. Love that stuff. |

08 Uly and no white res on tail. But mine was not washed before I picked it up. Could it be something the dealer is washing them with? Al |

Even made a sidebar in cycle world when it made it's cali comeback. None of the above is true, as it relates to Honda. I don't know where Cycle World got their info; but it's incorrect too. From: http://www.parkeryamaha.com/index.asp?PageAction=V IEWPROD&ProdID=17189 The Original Honda Pro Spray Cleaner and Polish that Honda once offered was and is still made by Amrep who is the patent holder. It was manufactured and packaged for Honda by Amrep. This is the same spray that you may have purchased with a Honda Label. (Message edited by teeps on September 21, 2007) |

Teeps, Not vouching for the accuracy, but Cycle World was quoting an American Honda source for the info Miamiuly posted. I still have a big can of the stuff, so I haven't checked locally in W NC for it yet. The Honda source was who supposedly told Cycle World that Cali law changes had made the original formula illegal, and Honda was going to have a reformulated version soon. Thanks for the line on the maker, in case I cannot get it around here anymore. |

My gripe is that the tail has stained my orange seat black where it touches. |

Arcticktm Posted on Friday, September 21, 2007 Teeps, Not vouching for the accuracy, but Cycle World was quoting an American Honda source for the info Miamiuly posted. By the time CW printed that info; things changed... In the end it really doesn't matter who's name is on the label. Only that the product is once again available... I think this Moto Pro stuff: http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1=&L2=&L3=&L4=& item=AMR_16-362&tier2=272 that Cycle Gear sells, is similar too. |

Hey guys, I've got the residue but I've noticed that I get it anytime the triple tail gets wet period. it just rained here last Fri and I happened to be riding that day. My triple tail looks like a dalmatian, white spots everywhere. I believe that it is a reaction with the rubber or a chemical in the rubber that is brought out by the water. I have found that a product called Rubber-pro from the CREST company takes them out pretty well, dries completely, leaves no residue, doesn't collect dust like armor all and is paint and body safe. It can usually be picked up at body shop suppliers, and some vehicle dealerships. As a technician I use it for door seals, hood seals, any body seal actually. No more noises. Stuff works great. if you can't find it in your area let me know and I'll see if I can get my hands on some for you guys. |

@Sanchez, I have the same problem. Did you talk to you dealer about it? I was thinking the beaver tail is not straight cause mine touches only on the left edge. Will talk to the dealer when I'm there the next time (90 miles away). Ride safe Werner |
