I was running my hand around the corner of the piece in the photo and noticed the paint was popped away from the aluminum with an air gap under it. Unfortunately I flicked at it and it went flying. I found the chip of paint and put it in a zip-lock bag and thought about what I should do. I could try gluing it on but if it looked like crap then where would I be. So instead I went to Dillon Brother's HD/Buell in Omaha where I bought the bike. When I walked in to the service counter the guy looked up and said "Hi, Craig". I'd seen this guy before but didn't know his name. I told him (Buell rider and he was wearing a Buell patced cap) what had happened and he took a look. Then he got on the computer and then walked away for a minute and came back with a box with apparently the part within. We went out to my bike and compared the part to my bike's part and they were a perfect match. I asked how in the hell they happened to have that obscure part on hand and he said that he had no idea. Warranty right? Yes. Thursday the 20th I'm to arrive bright and early and they'll install while I wait. I hear folks complaining all the time about their dealers but so far my dealer has done nothing but impress me. (Message edited by electraglider_1997 on September 15, 2007) |

Wow, you got lucky. I don't know if I'd even take my bike to the shop for something like that. I'd just let it be. Heck, I dropped of my rear wheel and front forks to have new bearings and fork seals put in. That was two weeks ago, and I still don't have them back. |

Impressive indeed - good to hear positive dealer experiences, like you say we hear a bunch of the negative ones. |

Seems my service visits always surround a crisis mode, you are blessed. |

What was the ETA when you dropped it off? I always have an ETA when I drop stuff off and call to verify that it will be completed as expected. If you drop it off for an open ended time horizon, it will always get pushed to the back burner. |
