Does anyone here in the USA(especially around the Springfield,MO area)are using EMCspy? If so, where did you get the cable's to hook up the bike to the PC? or did you make them. Help would be appreciated. Thanx, Tom |

There is a guy called sonic on the UK Board that reportedly will build them. Don't have a cost (from him) but was rumored $50. I'm in the process of building one. The parts are on order. I'll post my results when the project is finished. |

Are you guys running xp or vista? I am going to add the program to my mac just for this software and wonder will it work with vista. I can't find the link now but there were some instructions on how to build the cable. Might want to check the thread at adv. |

I just made up two cables. Parts came to ~ $29.00 for each complete cable. Tested and working. Reset my TPS in about 10 minutes. Probably only 5 next time ;}. Sonic will ship to the U.S. Several guys on this side have bought from him already. $30 GBP = ~ $60.00 U.S. (Message edited by bosh on September 10, 2007) |

I made up one extra connector thinking a guy at work may want one too. If he doesn't, I can sell it for $30.00 (my cost to build) + postage. I'll post tomorrow after I find out. (If anyone is interested). |

I made myself one, use it all the time and it works better than VDST IMHO. My VDST-STD is going on e-bay when I get time. ECMspy does everything VDST does & goes way beyond. Plus.... its 1/3rd the cost, no dongle, USB PNP and it has very user friendly software. I would be willing to make a mess of them if enough guys would like to have one. It's not worth my time and trouble for less than ten kits. Yes it works w/ Win2000 and XP as well. I don't have Vista but see no reason why it would not work on Vista either. $60 for the following kit. 1) USB to Buell ECM cable interface 1) ESMspy with diagnostic software and EEPROM tool. 1) CPU to USB to ECM software patch 1) Detailed user / tune guide I am a controls engineer and live in Phoenix AZ for any local Buell riders. Ten orders and I'll make them. For sale: one VDST-STD kit. $150 takes it. Send me a PM for interest in either ECMspy or VDST. John |

I don't think it's a great idea to start selling other folks freeware on here. Those guys put a lot of time and work into the program and went to great lengths to make it available to the Buell community. If someone starts selling it for a profit they may take the program off the net and start charging for it Themselves. If you want to sell cables I don't think they would care as they have instructions for making them on their site. This stuff is free: Program: http://www.bike-pix.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2034 0 Instructions: http://www.ecmspy.com/ http://www.ecmspy.com/tuning_guide.shtml |

Thanks Bosh, you saved me the trouble of digging out the link. I never said I was charging for the free, "shareware". Do you think the cable is free too? Perhaps I overlooked that link. Guess what, it is neither free and is clearly not easy to source and or assemble. The parts alone cost me 45 to make the cable. Believe me, my time is worth more than 15 p/hr to make the cable(s). That's why I said a minimum of 10 to start. Not everyone can or wants to make the cable but perhaps it may be a sweet deal for a person that may want one. Just trying to help my fellow Buell'rs out. As an engineer and a controls project manager, where do you think I make my living? Not selling cables. Bosh, you make a good point and I agree. I thought I was buying a cable and some instructions on how to make it all work; it has been obvious to me that the software itself was free. I am not a skilled maker of cables - but my Ulysses warranty is up (and my pinging issues remains after two dealer visits re same) so I feel like I need to go this direction and this seemed like an easy way to get started. I am still "in" for $60 and some help getting this all working. I don't really see how he would be profiting - if at all - at these prices. But I concur with your premise re freeware. Best, Jim in Santa Barbara |

One last point. If you ask Sonic, one of the engineer's that started the ECMspy project, he will be more than happy to sell you a cable as well. The waiting list is too long for me so I built my own. Beside, the British Pound brings it to somewhere around 80 US and a week or more shipping from GB. Again, Shareware = FREE Cable = NOT FREE |

Whitj, Sorry, I must have misread this: $60 for the following kit. 1) USB to Buell ECM cable interface 1) ESMspy with diagnostic software and EEPROM tool. 1) CPU to USB to ECM software patch 1) Detailed user / tune guide No big deal as long as people know it's freeware. |
