Even though I sold the Uly back in March and bought another Kawi ZX10R (hey, I like 0-100 in 5.5 seconds, what can I say?) I thought I would pop my head in to brag about my recently completed roadtrip. I left Greensboro on Saturday the 7th, joined up with my sister on her Pacific Coast in Lebanon TN, and we blitzed out to South Dakota to see Mt Rushmore (had been there 40 years earlier and decided it was time to go back). Total mileage, 3735 in 8 days, including a couple days over 600 miles and a few just under that. If you've never been across scenic Rt 2 in Nebraska, it was 250 miles of the best riding of my life, and 385 from Alliance NE up to the Black Hills is just about as good, albeit with a touch more traffic. Next year, maybe the Grand Canyon... |

Dmcutter, I've been on Rt 2 across NE many times and also the road from Alliance that goes through Chadron and then onto Hot Springs. Hope you stopped at Car Hinge outside Alliance. It's a bunch of cars partially buried and stacked to look just like Stone Hinge in England. Pine Ridge area up by Chadron is beautiful. Next time take head north off Rt 2 up to Valentine NE through the refuge. It's like going back in time. (Message edited by electraglider_1997 on July 16, 2007) |

Did in fact stop at Carhenge. 385 up to Chadron and Hot Springs was great, plenty of room for the occasional 140 mph blast. I will put Valentine on the agenda for next time. |

I just rode up to Valentine a couple weeks ago and with the rain they've gotten this year to break the drought it is as green and beautiful as it's been in years. I third the nomination of northern Nebraska as a beautiful wide on ride open roads. US-83 connecting Valentine and North Platte is prime sandhills.
