I am 250 miles from home and the ULY keeps dying on me. I am pretty sure that it is the bank angle sensor. However, I want to get the error code to confirm my suspicion. Would somebody please conform this is the correct procedure to check the error codes so I don't ruin something ... If I short terminals 1 and 2 of the data link connector (The connector where we hook up or vehicle diognostic software), and turn on the ignition key ... it should flash out error code 44 ... right? Also ... HOW THE HELL DO I DISABLE THE BAS?????????? I want the bike to run until I get home. |

OK ... I did the test and it did not show an error code. New question ... If the BAS trips and shuts off the engine ... will it cause an error code? My guess is that the ECM just thinks the bike was dropped, so no error code will be recorded. |

It seems if I connect the green wire to the black/white wire it will disable the BAS by tricking the ECU into thinking it is always in the RUN mode, because I am shorting it to ground. Can anybody confirm? If the BAS fails on my trip back, I want to know how to get home. Is the BAS sensor used on any Harley products? There is a Harley dealer nearby, but no Buell. Is this correct? |

I'm not sure, but you might want to try posting on the Quick Board for faster exposure (and a answer hopefully). Good Luck! |

Well ... I am sure I can get home with no problem. So far, I have not heard of anybody being stranded because of the BAS problem. |

The BAS sensor will not throw a code. If it is tripping because of vibration. That was the cause for the relocation recall. It will take a true bad sensor for it to trip a code. |

When mine went the bike would just randomly shut off. Cycle the ignition and it would restart and run fine. It showed no codes and it could not be proven to be bad. My dealer took the chance and replaced it due to my insistence and what was being discussed about the problem on BadWeb. I have done 10,000 miles since with no symptoms and the BAS remount recall was done about 2,000 miles after it was replaced. |

The harley dealership in Bend Oregon had a BAS off a 2007 wrecked lightning. They gave it to me and I am in business. They were quite helpful. |

Usually the sensor isn't bad. It's just where it is mounted and the excess vibration that seems to trip the sensor. Has it been relocated to the tail or is it still by the battery? |

It is under the ECU in front of the battery. |
