Lyndall or stock? I really like the Lyndalls up front, but the stock rears have been good until I checked them awhile ago and found them very worn. 25k doesn't seem like a lot of mileage for rear pads. I need a set asap, don't think they'll last another week... Opinions? |

Tough to say. The stock pads suck, but on the rear, that's a good thing. The Lyndall's are more progressive, but I don't think that with the foot lever and single pot that the progressive benefits of the Lyndall's pads will come through. The problem is that because of the short wheelbase and the tendency of the Uly to see-saw a bit under breaking, the rear locks easily. I think the feel would be wasted and the braking power would be increased. I would probably stick with stockers. |

+1 on the stockers. They lack power, but you really have to try hard to lock them on the street. 25K is good for rear pads, especially with some dirt use. I'm lucky to get 10K out of a set on a dual sport, but I like the power slide technique for quick U-turns. |

Thanks for the thoughts. Of course when I checked with my dealer they aren't in stock, with a week long wait. SOP. You'd think the rear caliper might have some cross-reference with another make of bike, maybe I'll try to find some EBC's or something to get me by. |

I think the more digital nature of sintered pads doesn't serve the rear well. OTOH, there are more economical choices than the Lyndall for semi-met rear pads. It's not like you can get much heat into the rears if you're riding right. The EBC's or Ferodo's we sell work well for the rear and are inexpensive. If you like sintered for the rear, the Ferodo sintereds we sell are still much cheaper than stock. Al |

I went with the Lyndall's on the front and rear. Front for the common reason, but I chose them for the rear because I live on a sandy road and found the stock pads were more like a switch, either on or off. I wanted a lot more feel and braking control on the rear for the loose sand. The Lyndall's are phenomenal for that and it really does still come through on the rear. I have excellent braking control and feel front and rear now and highly recommend them all the way around. (Message edited by jmhinkle on June 12, 2007) |
