I cooked off the rest of my tires last weekend. I had about 3000 miles on them, which is about 300 miles better than the Avon Azaros. They probably had another 150-300 miles on them. The center was cooked and through the wear bars. I wasn't into the cords yet. I don't like letting them get to that point. The edges were cooked, semi-blued and feathered, all indicative of being pressed hard by a fat guy on a bike with lots of torque. The tires never broke loose in the turns. There was no chicken strip at all, so all of the tread was used. Overall, the dual compound extended the tire life by about 20% which is good. Not a great increase, but 20% is an increase at least. The outer edges were very sticky and were great. The downside of the tire was that they tended to square off in profile and the feathering was fairly pronounced on the edges. I would buy these tires again, and will add a rear to the set since the front still has life left. I am also trying a set of the Diablo Stradas (thanks Cycle Gear!) on the other set of wheels. |

Those rear Syncs you saw on my bike had 3k on them. If Yoda were real, and at my beckon call, I'd have him say, "Slow down, you must" You need a Road King. Those tires will last forever. |

Hey Ft_bstrd, I think you read my post earlier on the ME880 tires and so far they rock for a fat guy pushin hard! I've got nearly 3K on mine and it still looks new! No chicken strips either and I actually drug a peg last weekend. I don't see any problem of traction loss at all. I think being a heavy dude helps a lot in that area. Try one on the rear and I think you'll like it. I know I do. I'm still using the sportec Z6 on the front because I like the increased ease of turn-in and stability while leaned over hard. I'm really liking the longevity of the ME880 on the rear. I've gone through way too many tires on my S3T and on my ULY. I could have bought a new bike by now with all the tires I've burned up! I guess that's the price I pay for living in Gods bike country! NorCal Santa Cruz Mountains. BC Steve |

Yeah, I may have to try an ME880 rear and see. I'll be buying a new rear anyway. I got caught out of body position in a left right transition and drug the hell out of my right peg. It was pristine until I hit it. As tall as the Uly is, hitting the pegs means your head is either rubbing the outside edge of the guard rail or aligned with the inner headlight of the oncoming car. I prefer to choke up, hang off the bike more, and keep the bike more upright. |

I've had really good luck with the Diablo Stradas. They don't square off very much, and they handle well. Of course, I spend more time on the side of my tire than I do on the center. |

Easy to do that on a trailer. |

Keep that up and my tires will look like Danger Dave's! |

I've had a set of Stradas on for just over 2500 and they look great! overall I'm pretty happy with them but they are as stable in the rain of northern as the 616's were. They just don't seem to warm up well in the cold rain. I'm going on a week long ride in the Alps in a couple of weeks and I'm curious how they'll hold up to that kind of thrashing! It's be about 2500 miles round trip but I'm willing to bet that they'll need replacing after the trip. |

I have been running a set of Conti Road Attacks and they seem to be doing OK so far. Pros: 1. Turn in is relatively good unless my speeds get ultra illegal. 2. Great grip all the way to the edge of the tire. 3. Super stable when leaned over. Cons: 1. Seem to be wearing extremely fast for a "sport touring" radial. 2. Front seems to fight a little when trail braking. Overall have been a pretty decent tire. I am waiting to see how they hold up to the torque and my stature as well. Me 6'5" 250lbs. |

next Thursday when I have my 10,000 miles service done, I'm going to replace my Dunlop D-616 rear tire with another D-616. My rear still has good tread left on it but since I plugged it at about 1000 miles, I decided to just replace it for some more trouble-free riding this summer. The front tire shows very little wear. |

I am just ready to replace my Conti Road Attacks and am leaning towards the Diablo Stradas. I liked the Contis well enough and was getting right around 3500 miles out of a rear tire, no issues with slipping and sliding around wet or dry and I used them right to the edge also. I don't run many highway miles so squaring off is not much of a problem. The front wore out a bit quicker and threw me off of my usual 2 rear to 1 front ratio, more like 1 1/2 to 1. I thought the original 616's were terrible, esp in the rain. |
