Someone pushed my 06 Ulysses over in the Motorcycle Parking lot at the Naperville, Illinois Commuter Train Station. Likely Vandalism as their is no way for someone to accidentally back in to it and push it over. I have a police report and need to provide a repair estimate via email to the police officer. Thankfully most of the damage was on the handlebar and scratches on the right side passenger foot peg. Bike held up well, but I'm still highly pissed off at the individual who damaged my new toy for fun. Because the Uly is a new model I had great difficulty finding these OEM replacement parts at the typical motorcycle parts websites I have used. Has anyone found a good site for Ulysses parts? The concrete landing resulted in the following damaged Uly components which I need to replace. If you know where to find these please let me know via post or personal message: 1). bent handlebar --> rideable for the short term, but bent a few degrees and must be replaced. I had no luck finding the STOCK Uly handlebar anywhere. I get the joy of re-installing my Poly Heaters in the new handlebar once found as well. This was a three hour install the first time. 2). bent front break lever. I found this on americansportbike.com. 17164 - Front Brake Lever, Black, for XB series, $44.75 3). Right Sight Hand Guard and Plastic handlebar end cap thingy which the hand guard clips to. I have minor scratches on the right side passenger foot peg and barely visible scratches on the swing arm and will leave these as is. Thanks for any help you can provides on part #'s 1 and 3 and/or websites where I can get parts. Vandals suck and if found will be pummeled, Marc |

Hey Marc, Really sorry to hear about the damage. It appears there is a wave of bike vandalism going on at that station (I live in Chicago.) About 2 weeks back, a buddy had his brand new Aprilia Tuono tipped over, and when he returned to the station that evening and was surveying the damage, another guy stopped by and said his and another friends bikes were tipped over in the lot as well. Hopefully the cops will get on the ball with this. Some people are simply a**holes. If anyone finds out who is responsible, an ass beating will be in order and I'll be happy to deliver. -Sean |

I think list price for the bars is $64.25. Too bad there isn't a way to hook a stun gun up to the frame of the bike. |

If the handle bar is not kinked, you can straighten it with a few well placed blows from a 2x4. Be sure to remove the hand grip/throttle pipe and handguard first. |

Straighten handlebars with great caution . . . if you've ever had one dangling loose in your hand you'll understand. The will straighten but are quite prone to breaking easily after being bent. Don't ask.

Thanks to everyone for your advice, part numbers, part websites, and humorous notes. The stun gun idea sounds like a great winter farkle project and would also keep my wife's damn cat off of the seat when parked in the garage. On second thought, if the cat ended up dead from the 50,000 volt stun, I may end up sleeping in the garage with the motorcycle. I wanted to share a parts website which was provided to me by one of you that was very helpful. http://www.surdyke.com/ Thanks for your help - Marc |

Look on the bright side of that idea... sooner or later you'd be out of the garage and no more cat to put up with. |

Marc, Sorry to hear about your bike. Maybe a surveillance camera is in order for the Metra parking lot. If it doesn't catch the culprit(s), it may deter future episodes. Sean, Have you ever been to McNamara's on Irving Park? It's the only place I've been to where the Guiness tastes like it does in Ireland. |

Use the handle bar money to buy Precission Engineerings fat bar adapter and put a set of Protapers on it. Or just find a set of 7/8" bars yu like. |

Hi Ejc, I've only been in there once for a beer just prior to heading back to the home country for a reunion several years back. Was hoping to see if the proprietors were going to be joining us, but unfortunately not. Good Guinness. I also think they pour an excellent pint @ Gunther Murphy's on Belmont near Ashland. Slan, -Sean |

Sean, I'll have to try the Murphy's next time I'm there. The Bloody Marys are good there too,(many an Irish breakfast there on Sundays). Thanks, Ed P.S. Sorry, I spelled Guinness wrong. |
