And I happened to be within 30 miles of the Buell dealer. Called 'em up to let them know I was going to nurse it in. Forward to today and they call to let me know they got it running again. Told me they installed new plugs (8k on the old plugs...) and they went on and on about how the last guys who worked on it had the TPS messed up bad, it was "waaaaaay out!". Said they couldn't confirm the tune because it had Direct Link on it and they didn't have the key. I bit my tongue until he was finished and said "You are the last people to touch it AND you are the one's that dyno tuned it". Service guy: "oh...um... I'll talk to *service manager* about it." Yeah, I figure you had better talk to him about it... Jeebus. Do dealers hire any smart people anymore? |

You would think they would check to see if they ever worked on it, and if so, what they did to it. That service guy is going to hear a ton of crap then the mechanic will. At least his stupidity is to your advantage. They should fix it for free. |

Wouldn't fix it for free. They say they didn't need to set it last time because it's part of the service and not tune. The plugs looked fine, but I guess it doesn't hurt to have new ones in anyway. Still not running right and I just don't have the energy or patience to take it back. As far as I'm concerned, the warranty is only as good as the dealer network and the Buell dealer network sucks. I have the service manual and I guess I had better become an XB expert because that's the only way I'll be getting anything done right. |

The first 1/2 of the statement is always true, unfortunately the 2nd 1/2 is also true in this case. I'd say that sentiment is the number 1 problem facing Buell today, as shown by too many negative Bad Web experiences. |

Noggin, I can't blame my dealer. They just don't have any experience except bolting over priced chrome bits on new Harley's. After my $202.00 dollar initial check, I haven't been back except for Warranty work. (tilt sensor, Fan, Kick stand) Just buy that VDSTS and TPS resets are a breeze. A large bottle of loctite, some anti seize and a torque wrench. The rest just buy as needed. A spring compressor for fork work, primary locking bar, a clutch basket tool etc. It's easy. Oh I wade through the Harley clothes and all those chrome parts, and buy a few gaskets and oil filters from the parts counter. Say hi to my friendly salesman. It won't pay for that huge dealership, but they seem to get buy on the large bikes equipped with floor boards. Until I recently bought a tire changer and Mojo Lever, I was saving $100 / tire, ordering and have my tires mounted at the jap store 500 feet away.(my dealer wanted $93/tire to mount) Now I save another $30 dollars a tire ordering on line. All my tire tools payed for themselves rather quickly. Plus, having these tools makes me more popular and makes up for the large holes in my personality. Dive in, its all good. |
