Ok so here is my story and a question. This last friday i finally installed my caribou luggage system and i fired up my uly to take it out for a test spin... I get on put it in gear and as i let my clutch out to leave my garage - Pop there goes my belt at only 8316mi!! So I take it up to my local Hd shop and they tell me that there is no Uly belts on the whole west coast and they are back ordered till the 31st of may! + a week of shipping once they are off back order! My question is where should i go or who should i call to get a belt I cant wait that long for one! This has already messed up my memorial day ride plans... Help? |

I think your dealer is full of beans. I'm betting if you called Buell Customer Service, they'd find you one, even if they had to take one off the line. |

I ordered a belt from Andy at Appleton on Friday. It was in stock. I can pretty much guarantee you that once you start getting parts from Appleton, you won't ever go anywhere else. |

Sad that a dealer who'll take your money for the bike won't stock parts for it, but that's what I deal with also. I bought a spare belt months ago just in case... I'm putting it on tomorrow since my original is starting to show cracks at the base of some of the teeth. My Uly just turned 1 year old and I've just about hit the 25k mark so I guess it's about time to swap belts. Although I realize it's a warranty item I ride my Uly constantly and daily, I can't afford a belt breakage enrout to work. The belt was a plus factor in my decision to buy the Buell. If I have to buy a belt once a year at $160 ea... I'm out of town right now and yesterday I checked into the local HD-"Buell" dealer. Sure they have the sign outside, but not one Buell on the floor and the parts guy said I would have to essentially order in anything along with a 7-10 day wait. My wife had asked about any Buell gear and was told "Oh, we got rid of that stuff a long time ago." When is BMC going to change this? Until then I'm going to stay with dealers that BadWeB. |

My belt is also starting to show the same cracks at the base of some of the teeth. I noticed while I had the engine rotated down for maintenence to install new ceramic coated headers. I just ordered a new belt today but I don't expect to see it for a couple of weeks. I guess I'll have to go easy on it till I get the new one installed. I have almost 19 thousand hard miles on it so I guess I can't complain too much with all the hooliganism I've done on it! BC Steve |

I noticed the cracks at the bottom of the teeth on the belt at about 5k when i changed the muffler out... Hmm Appleton you say? I'll be calling them monday! I think im also going to write a nice email to my local Hd shop and suggest that they stock more than oil filters for the Buells that they seem to be selling a lot of! |

01 X1 15,000 mi just threw a belt. Does anyone have a service manual on replacement? hate to give HD $120 to replace it, bad enough the belt is $170. I know I'm cheap but I'd rather do it myself, just concerned I saw a post with an M2 with the wheel off hanging from someone's rafters. I have a center lift, but I'm still a girl |

Buellchic, post this in the Old School section, thats where the tuber people hang out. Nobody is going to see this because of the horrible archive system. Oh yea, welcome to BadWeb. Old School: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/47623.html?1217985461 |
