3 questions: Are there any more aggressive tread tires available for the Uly? What are my options for lowering the bike? Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced high intensity driving light? Thanks, jfastcat | ||

Any sport bike tire with 17 inch rims will fit. There are plenty of more "aggressive" tread tires. If you're looking for more off road, well that's a different story. MT60's are about your only choice. Not many 17 inch tires for off road. I went with an HID kit for mine. Plenty of light. Price was right. Lowering can be accomplished with a complete GMD Computrack rework. Spendy, but will be perfect for your specific needs. I believe someone is currently looking to install the STT suspension on the ULY. You might also do a search for "cheap lowering option". | ||

I am installing the STT suspension on my Uly, I ordered the stuff on thurs, should be here in 2 or 3 weeks. I am sure it is a direct bolt on. As for tires, if you want street only then the sky is the limit, I have heard that the pilot road tires are awsome, I have always liked my M1 tires, I have them on my SV650, and I have also used the Z6, also great. If you want the on/off style, I have only seen the Dunloups and the Pirellis that come on the Uly | ||

At least a couple of people have lowered their Ulys by installing bar risers in front, which allow the fork tubes to be raised in the clamps, and a rear shock from a shorter XB in the rear (available used & cheap on ebay). I believe this drops the bike about an inch. You'd probably also have to shorten your kickstand. | ||

I am one person who did the mods outlined by Hughlysses. I measured the lowering as 1.5" with the XB9 shock. I liked it well enough to get my Uly shock reworked by Trackside Engineering. Their mods lower it 1.4" which is close enough for me. They also modify forks for the same amount of lowering so you don't need the riser. |
