I hope I am on the right board. My fiance' test rode a xb9xs yesterday and realy liked it. She is coming off a F650GS BMW. She wanted to know if there is a larger windshield for the bike. Also she wanted to know what other options were available for the bike such as soft luggage, lower seat etc. The salesman (Erik) took us to the parts counter and asked to see the catalogue for the Buels, the parts fellow said he did not know where it was, then Erik asked him to perhaps look for it. The parts fellow told him he would need to take a number, because he was talking with a friend of his. Then the parts fellow did a cursory stroll through the arts area counter and said the catalogue is missing. The parts fellow then asked me what bike I had purchased and I told him the purchase had been contingent upon the available accessories, so I guess I was not going to purchase a bike from them. Erik was not happy after about 1 1/2 hours of working with us. When Sara asked about the bag for the demo ride,Erik said that we needed a coupon for the bag for the test drive. I showed him the poster they had on the floor and also told him to check out all the magazines. He then said that the owner told him that a coupon was required. This fellow had no idea what he was talking about and also had this aggravating habit of talking and not listening. O well a sale down the tubes due to incompetence and ignorance by the Hardley folks. I am not sure now that I will be able to get Sara off the BMW, those sales and service folks at Bob's BMW are much more customer oriented. I think that she is now going to wait and test the new BMW 800. Would be nice if Buell could find dealers that were as enthusiastic as BMW, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, ec., dealers. I would prefer her to get a Buell, I think it is one of the best bikes on the market and I also like the maintenance or lack therof, but she just does not want to give her money to folks that treat her in such a demeaning manner. Sorry for the vent. If there is a taller shield for the Lightning 9 and also soft luggage, I perhaps can talk her into a re-run on the Buell. Thanks |

ZG makes a taller screen for the cityX and I am very happy with the one on my Uly. http://www.zerogravity-racing.com/sportbikes/buell _sptbks/856.htm There are also soft bags available from Buell. http://www.buell.com/en_us/gear/accessories/Produc t.asp?Menu_ID=2&ProductLineID=2&CategoryID=4&Produ ctID=2228 Good luck with finding a Pro-Buell dealer. They are few and far between. I got lucky and live somewhat close to one of the good ones. |

I forgot to link the low seat for you. http://www.buell.com/en_us/gear/accessories/Produc t.asp?Menu_ID=2&ProductLineID=2&CategoryID=3&Produ ctID=1935 The Buell website shows everything available from them. The aftermarket goodies you will have to search for. |

Hello and welcome! Coming off a BMW, she's going to love the Buell...especially the greater reliability and ease of getting the thing serviced. As far as windshield options, they've been addressed fairly adequately. Buell makes a set of small softbags. If you want to go further, I'd recommend the soft luggage by Tourmaster. |

I think it would be hard to find a person who disagrees with you about the Harley Dealers being the primary Buell Dealers. If buell could go get in bed with kawasaki or honda instead of harley I think the dealer network would not only be greater but the people would be more enthusiastic. I guess Harley is kind of a double edged sword. If it weren't for them Buell wouldn't be here as we know it, and if it weren't for them Buell might have a ton more market share and engines available for their bikes. |

I forgot to add, I work at a Harley/Buell Dealership and I know little about my bikes in the scope of what they are. But I know 10x's more than almost everyone else at the dealership. 1 trained Buell tech and that is only because he recently went to training. Very disappointing if I could find the right market and resources I would dare open an all Buell dealership and crap on any HD dealer carrying Buell just to appease harley while ruining the experience for many Buell enthusiasts. |

Thanks everyone- I had a goldwing 1800 and would ride her Beemer for grins and giggles. I got the Uly and no longer liked her BMW. I knew if I could get her on a Buell that would be a good fit for her she would like it. She has been daydreaming about getting the 9x and has contacted the loan office to qualify. I knew it. Now if I can get a different salesman at the Buell dealership (the fellow that sold me mine) then perhaps we will be a Buell family. Yipee. I also am so tired of working on that over engineered beemer. Seems like you need to work for an hour just to get to the point of changing the oil, not to mention the valve adjustment, aircleaner replacment and then changing the liquid cooling. At my I age I want to ride not wrench in my free time. Also is this the location or the board for me to post to get more info on the cityx or is this just for us Uly folks? anticipating her getting the bike) I find that this board is the cats PJ's when it comes to info on my Uly. |

This board is good for CityX info. The nice thing about the buells is how standardized they are. A lot of the things on a Uly are the same as on the cityX. And the city x riders in here love banging on their bike on the alternative terrains that we do . Here and XBoard is where your gonna wanna call home. |

Pso; If you don't mind a suggestion about dealers, and you don't mind traveling a bit to find a good one; I'd recommend going up to Rahway, NJ to Liberty H-D/Buell. They are very pro Buell, and even have their own racing team. They have managed to impress me, and I live 200 miles away. I'd really hate to see anyone have to settle for a BMW, when they could be on a bike as sweet as a Buell. |
