Well, I just finished my third ride on my new '07 XBX. I've put 230 miles on it so far. I'm really loving this thing. It's warm these last couple of days (Houston), and the bike does put some heat on my right leg, but nothing too unbearable. It's a small price to pay for such a great bike. The FI has been flawless and I traded in an inline 4 with FI, so that's saying something. So far I'm getting 43.6 MPG during break-in and I'm pushing it pretty hard, varying speeds and gears. I do have one question though: Even after reminding the salesman about the recalls, he still sold me a bike without the BAS recall performed. When I noticed it last night I was pissed! I know for a fact it's illegal for him to have sold it to me, or to even demo the bike. This dealer is 300 miles away so I'm not going back. What do you think I should do ... besides a nasty email / phone call? |

Any dealer can/should do the warranty repair. I know that does not forgive the offending dealer. |

I should have added that My Uly has been at the dealer for three weeks waiting/getting the front motor isolator replaced under warranty. They are one of thoes dealers who will not order the part unless you leave the bike there. |

Hey Honu, I too was sold a Uly which was in need of a recall. I wouldn't bother calling Buell Customer Service though. They could have cared less. Too busy trying to correct the pinging issue I suppose. Initially told me there was no recall on my bike. Someone here had posted the bulletin number so I called back and they finally agreed with me. Talk about frustrating. And then there was the experience with the dealer, which was even worse. I never did get the recall performed. Oh well, enjoy the bike. If you take the dealers and customer service out of the equation, the experience is good. |

I'll figure something out to get the recall done. Everything else about the bike rocks! BTW, no more chicken stripes on this thing. I set up the suspension like the book said and it handles like a dream. I'm glad I checked it too because the rear preload was down to zero. ( I think to keep customers from sitting on them and tipping them over because of seat height) Only thing I've had to do so far was adjust the headlights. |

Radegast, Enjoy the new bike! Sorry to say that the 2 year unlimited warranty on these bikes is relatively useless to a large number of Uly riders. I have now done 2 repairs myself on the bike that should have been covered by warranty because the dealer is so apathetic. Since you are near a major city you might be able to find a good Buell dealer. It looks like there are at least 2 Buell dealers in Houston and several more in the area. It seems like Buell dealers only come in two flavors: Really good or really bad. The great thing about it is that these bikes are pretty simple to work on and parts are relatively inexpensive. It is also quite odd that I can get parts MUCH quicker from one of the good Buell dealers in some distant part of the country rather than my home town dealer. My local dealer takes 7-10 days for any part that you want and they charge a surcharge for anything that they don't have on the shelf... and they have nothing on the shelf. I can order parts from another dealer, pay less, and get it sooner??? It is really odd. Try the other dealers in your area and see if you can find a good one to take care of you. It is a great bike, you will enjoy it. |

Thanks Windrider. In my area, it's not just Buell dealers so I shouldn't single them out. I work for a company that is all about service. At my job, you can do $10,000 worth of damage to equipment and still keep your job but if you fail to show courtesy to a customer, you can be fired on the spot. The car dealer, grocery store, local electronics outlet store, have all started focusing on profits and not people. At my job we figured out they are the same. You have to drive pretty far from here to find good "after the sale" service on anything. |
