A call to support the rights of motorcyclists: All national forests are mapping out trails and roads where dirt bikes will be allowed. This is part of a federal effort to better (?) manage traffic in national forests. Here in New Mexico, Travel Management Plan Workshops are being held all over the state. In Santa Fe it’s on March 27, 6:30-8:30 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation. In Albuquerque, it’s at the UNM Continuing Ed Center on May 1st, 6-8 pm. For more info on the New Mexico plans, meetings and to submit comments go to www.fs.fed.us/r3/sfe/ for the Santa Fe National Forest or www.fs.fed.us/r3/carson/recreation/travel_mgmt/ind ex for the Carson National Forest. For those of you in other states or for more info, go to http://www.fs.fed.us/recreation/programs/ohv/index .shtml We need to support each other even if we don't ride in the dirt. Murrae |
