Have your dealer contact Buell Technical Services if they haven't and advise them that your bike "pings". Make sure they have checked the timing. There are several threads here that address the issue. |

And if they dont do anything about it, call buell customer service. They were excellent in fixing mine. |

Are they going to have a service bulletin for the dealers to check the others in the field that complain about pinging bikes? Because in till that happens my dealer won't even check the timing to make sure because there has been no bulletins on this subject according to him. Just thought I would ask..... |

Checking the timing is part of the 10k service. You might call Buell Customer Service and share your dealer experience with them. So far, our service department is checking timing whenever we have a Ulysses in for regular servicing. The only pinging bikes we've seen (2) were stock units and setting the timing correctly solved the problem in both cases. |

Im at 6k so not quite 10k. Well my issue was hopefully solved with the intake leak. But it hasnt been hot enough here to make it ping. The clatter in my motor is getting louder as well. Cant really tell if thats the way this thing is gona sound or not. It didnt clatter for the first 2k. Just thought I would throw that out there since it pinged for most of the summer, it seemed to start when that clatter started. Just crossing my fingers it didnt ruin this motor in the long run. |
