Ok, I got a few of my model helicopters ready to go for this season and now it's time to address the bike. Which reminds me of the saddle bag problems. Which problems you ask? Why the sticking latches and the loose rubber seals! It's a PITA to get them open and once open, to close them I must play with the seals. Has there been a "official" fix for these problems or am I on my own to take care of it? Guessing that it is the latter, any suggestions for a good repair? Btw, I have gotten use to the goatee the front tire leaves on the front chin spoiler. I mean if the bike likes wearing one, who am I to say no. |

I'm glad I'm not the only one to have the latch stick when opening. Something I'm going to try once my dealer tells me "there is no problem": I'm going to tweak the spring so that it pushes with more force when in the open position, as I think this will keep the latch from sticking. |

When I open my side bags I push my leg against it slightly to relieve any pressure that stuff inside might put on the latch, I sometimes do feel resistance on the latch if I don't do that though. I have never had the seal come loose but if I did I would use a good quality contact cement after cleaning it really well. |

I'd sure love to get my hands on a Uly and s set of these bags to play with . . . Come to Oregon. When I bought my Uly, the salesfolks didn't know how to work the latches at all. They just said that they were kinda tricky... After I used them a few times, I learned that if I insert the key with the fat part toward the bike, turn the key and allow the latch to come up in back, then just push on the lid a bit and the latch will release. To close it I just push the lid closed and press the key down lightly and lock it. This all can be done with an armload of shit in one hand, by the way. The next time I was at the dealership I showed them this and they couldn't have been less interested. They work very well one handed. I'm thinking about making metal latches so that they won't break any more, or at least reinforcing the hinge area where it broke before. |

Well they only cost twenty bucks at the dealership so if you show me how to make a profit at this idea I will fly at it like a man possessed. Until then, I alone will have a set. Soon. |

Slayer, I bitched about the seals too until I figured out that they weren't fully seated as new from Hepco Becker. Lower seal on left case kept popping out. They need a firm push to get them fitted into their grooves, you can feel them snap in. Once I ran them into their channels I haven't had a problem since in several months. Still don't seal well though in heavy rain... Latches are a different story, they suck... |

Well Court, I like the basic bike a lot. You can not have it! But if you supply me a better set of bags, I would give up mine in a heart beat! |

I put a set of these on: http://adventure-motorcycle.com They aren't pretty, but they absolutely don't leak and the latches won't break. They are tough as all get out, easy to get on and off, narrow profile, and the bare frames look a lot better than the empty hoop design that everyone else uses. They don't hold as much as the standard HB bags but they hold plenty for me. |
