Road to Phillip Island for the WSBK round.Bike performed well, kept up to the other quite well,so I suppose the Uly passed the road test. A few things that I want to improve include: Heated Grips, get rid of the take up in the front and rear brake, don't know how to o this yet,Get a rear tyre to replace the worn 616. Overall I really enjoyed the ride, bike seems pretty good up to 130 kph, after this it's a bit breezy.

Nice one Bails. I just saw the race re-play Wednesday; those bikes looked fast. I guess the off season has slowed my eyes. NUTS |

Nice shots there Bails, did you do the run down over 2 days? Thinking of heated grips in this heat? Wore my Dents thinsulate gloves this morning only 'cause my leather ones were still soaked from yesterdays commute & my hands were sweatin' by the time i got to work... (no hand guards either) Who did you get your RSS from? Have found i can ride in heat now after 16000km & the fan wont cut in unless im hammering it (usually). Happy with the zero gravity? What else? Have fun riding tomorrow! Oh thats it - put a pirelli on the front as well as the rear when you change it & you'll be a happy customer! Matt |

Oh thats it - put a pirelli on the front as well as the rear when you change it & you'll be a happy customer! I've already changed front to a Sync, couldn't stand the 616 wonders. Can't see how some riders get 10,000 miles out of the 616, I reckon that I'll get about 3,500 miles if lucky. I was really surprised how quick the 616 wore. Also I punctured the rear , on sealed road as well, was pleased that had tire repair kit orginsed before leaving . We took two days down, and two days back, so that made for 6 day back altogether. |

I meant to say other Uly is Jack82. He lives around Omeo area .Jack rode up to Omeo to meet up with us, and show us the the best lines on the road back to Bruthen. |

Looks like a fun trip, Ian. How far are you from Philips Island? I hear ya on the 616's. Can't say I liked 'em very much, wore 'em out pretty quick, and they sure seem nail happy for some reason. I've patched 4 616's on the side of the road now. I have the same Ventura bag on the T-tail setup like you do on my Uly, it works great. I have the hard bags, but have never mounted them, haven't needed to,the Ventura bag holds a lot. Some day I'd like to ride a Buell (or any bike, really) in Australia. Al |

Ian. How far are you from Philips Island? Al It is about 1000 klm's as the crow flies. we make it a much longer trip down and back by detouring through the Australian Alps. Any time you want to ride in Australia look me up. One thing I've noticed about the Uly is it doesn't like the rain much ! Surface rust every where, also the engine missed a few times when the rain was very heavy.I can't work out why on a bike the makers can't put products on that will withstand the elements. Rusted mirror mounts ??I mean the who bike is going to be exposed to the outside world, doesn't make sense to put cheap sh!t on a bike. |

That's odd, my Uly has been poured on for hours on end and I've not experienced any rusting. |

That's odd, my Uly has been poured on for hours on end and I've not experienced any rusting. I'll post a pic when I get back in town. It is surface only but this means poor covering .I think the thing that irritates me is this bike is so good, but with a little attention to detail it could be great. |
