Have the stock Uly luggage and like everything except the size of the topcase. If it don't hold 2 full face helmets, it ain't a topcase. When on a day trip with a passenger the topcase saves hauling helmets into a restaurant. Bought a used Hepco & Becker from Steve Rathburn (thanks again Steve) that fills the bill for me. It is the Journey 50lt, it fits the Uly rack and is is a BIG improvement. Buy it at Eurotech Motorsports (www.eurotechmotorsports.com) in 2 versions. Solid black is $189.00 and silver & black is $209.00. Has a Hepco & Becker badge instead of a Buell emblem and the silver is shinier than that used on the stock topcase. Anyone want to buy a stock topcase?

Dave: Will get to road test it tomorrow. Will report on any turbulence. |

WildWilly, I just use a locking cable for helmet securement during stops. Works fine, can secure many items to bike, and fits in my pocket. Just a thought. No turbulence involved. |

Windrider, Used to do the same thing until I put a helmet on with a bee inside. I always looked in the helmet before I put it on, but this sucker was hiding. Noticed it at about 65MPH. (Talk about turbulence!) When the topcase is used for touring, we take the helmets in with us. |

I need the room to carry stuff back and forth to work. Turbulence or not the truck is sitting. |

Jeez man, you would think if enough of us wanted one of these, we could get a group buy going. I would be in. |

Does anyone know if Buell will sell the top case rack separately? I checked aftermarket and was told that Buell has an exclusive on it. I would need the rack to get in on a group buy. |

I like it. Bigger is better. Can't you just peel off those badges and exchange them? I looked at the Buell badge on mine and it sure looks like it would peel off if heated up. Also, what about the key? Were you able to order with the same key? Probably not. (Message edited by electraglider_1997 on March 08, 2007) |

Wild Bill- I told you that you would dig it big time! I loved it,but it sat for months unused, yearning for wide open spaces. I had to set it free.My work and home responsibilities are not going to allow me any major travel plans any time soon.In fact, does anyone want MY stock topcase? |

I got to thinking. Can the lock set just be switched out between the stock and your new larger tourpak? It would seem to be a dumb question because they look the same from your photos. (Message edited by electraglider_1997 on March 08, 2007) |

If I get the fat man I may hold onto the little boy to hide a tour tank fuel cell in. |

That looks good. Can you take a shot of the profile of the bike with the new bag attached? |

Electraglider: Just eye balling it, the latches look like an easy swap. If not, the Buell key is blue and the Hepco key is red. I'm not the brightest bulb in the chandelier and need all the help I can get. Will report back on how the swap goes. Also thought about swapping the emblems, but decided to leave it as is. Don't care what it looks like as long as it works. |

Gotj: Check with Touratech, think it's www.touratech-usa.com . They sell a rack for the Uly but I don't know if it will work with the Hepco case. |

The locks swap out of the cases easily. This is how they fixed mine when I busted a mounting latch. They just swapped with a new bag at the dealer and then swapped in my old lock barrels. They put the key in the lock and then did something on the inside that allowed the barrel to be removed. I'm guessing there is a pin or something inside that can be moved when the key is in. I was also looking at that bag because I like the size better too. Good job willy. Could you post some more photos of the bag on the bike from different angles? I would like to see how it looks overall on the bike better than the photos above. Thx. (Message edited by jmhinkle on March 08, 2007) |

Wildwilly, I talked to an HB dealer. My point about the top case rack is that if you don't have one already, you won't be able to get one unless Buell will sell one without the top case. I don't know if Buell will or not. They may but without the rack, you're screwed no matter the size of the case. |

80 miles yesterday, very little wind, and noticed no difference with the Poppa Bear topcase. A few angle pics.

Willy, Sorry to bug you again, can you take a pic of the bottom while mounted. I would like to see where it rests on the rack in relation to the stock case. Looks really good on the bike though. Nice Farkle!! Thanks |
