Xbimmer: 10/4...! I test rode a new 1200GS for a ripping 30 minute solo ride before buying the Uly. I wanted a 1200R but they were not yet available. Both the GS and R models are slick bikes with clever engineering but the GS I rode offered no handling or torque advantages over the XB. I'm more than happy with my 54" XB chassis and motor. |

The other aspect of the Uly that beats the SS for touring is the ratio. |

Yes...primary ratios: XB12Ss = 1.676:1 ratio (57/34) XB12X = 1.500:1 ratio (57/38) |

Unless something has changed all 12;s have 38/57 primary gearing, the 9's have the 34/57 which I just had installed on my 04 12s, less top end but, gets away from a stoplight better, and accelerates way harder. |

Black9 is correct. All 12's have the same primary ratio. Maybe some poublication has it wrong, but I guarantee all 12's came from the factory with the taller primary ratio than the 9's. |

Fellas, that's interesting as far as website specs and also the dealership product literature manuals- they do list the Ss primary as the 1.676 ratio. I've had my suspicions about whether these sources are 100% accurate- even to comparing the XB12X specs to the XB12STT. (Inquiring minds want to know, in my case <must> know 'cuz it's my job as a salesman.) Good eyes for the truth there.} |

Unless something has changed there were 2 stacks of palleted motors at the factory: 9's and 12's and depending on the bike being built they pull from the 2 stacks. So unless they have recently added a third motor spec all of the 12's should be the same. Any annony's care to verify this? |

I will say this was probably the best $$ I've spent on a performance upgrade , for me anyway. The bike gets away from a stoplight easier/ smoother, plus it just flat out flies! even though the topend is less, 120-122 I've never been there anyway,About 160.00 for parts and 95.00 labor and misc. |
