I am preparing my Uly for winter storage here in God's Country and I wanted everyone's input on the use of fuel stabilizer. I have used it in the past on all of my other Buell's with success. Thanks for the input in advance.

I was just back visiting in Iowa City, my home town and I now live in Omaha. Anyway, what do you need to put the ULY in storage for?? Ride that puppy all winter until the snow flies. If you have to put it away, just make sure that you change over to full synthetic oil because it clings to metal for a more lubricated start-up. Put battery on maintenance charger and as for stabilizer for the fuel, I think it is a waste of time for the few months of downtime you are talking about. My father-in-law loves Sea Foam and goes on at great length about its virtues as a winter fuel stabilizer. Maybe put in some of the corn fed ethanol to suck up any condensation that may form in your gas/frame tank.

Yes use some fuel stabilizer. 5 Months is enough to sour any fuel. The stabilizer should be put in the tank and run the engine at least 10 minutes t get the stuff into the injectors. I don't agree with Electraglider but everyone has their own opinion. I store a lot of seasonal vehicles in my job and fuel stabilizer will prevent a lot of damage in the fuel and will make starting in the spring all too easy. For the $2 it costs you can't go wrong.

I agree. I've used Stabil fuel products for the past 30+ years and have never had a fuel issue even after months of non-use.

Stabil works for me. I use it in my roto tiller, Argo AATV, motorcycle, weedeater. Never any problems with gas up to 1 year old.

Sadly, my Buell will soon be left with a tank of Stabilized fuel and sitting patiently on the charger for snow and ice to melt.

Yes, you can ride in snow but ice will leave you wearing plaster long after the ice has melted.
