Has anyone ground off some of the lock? I was curious to get somemore angle of freedom. Can it be done and or would it mess with the bike to much? |

No room on my bike. The fork tubes almost touch as it is. Probably need to make a tripple clamp mod. |

The wiring harness is part of the left lock now. If you cut off the lock the harness will be toast in a few weeks! |

I just wondered if any of you looked into it. I figured someone would of mentioned it before if it could be done. Thats for the input. |

Snowscum, I remember seeing a post once (maybe it was on Adventure Rider??) where someone did all the math on how much they could gain and what the risk would be to grind off some of the lock. As I recall the end was that it was not worth the effort. At first this bothered me but now I am completely used to it and I don't even notice it anymore. EOR made an interesting observation when he traded his Uly for a BMW GS. The GS would not make the same turn in his garage that the Uly did. Funny, I never here about steering lock issues on the GS's ???? |

Just practice in a big parking lot and the turning radius gets tighter and tighter, or the alternative is to take a sledge hammer and beat the frame in about two inches on each side...this "adjustment" is in in the manual if you look hard enough. |

If you stand on the rear brake enough you can get the wheel to lock, this will help reduce your turning radius considerably. |

How easy is it to increase the steering lock on ANY bike? |

Like Bosh posted, it would entail modifying the triples. Moving the forks forward in relation to the head tube would allow for a wider angle of turn. It would take a good machinist, but it's very do-able. |

The question is, what would that do to the front-end geometry and the handling characteristics we like so much? |
