I was lucky enough to be able to find a brand new race kit, which I received today. The box was sealed with the usual tamper-proof tape, but when I removed the pipe I noticed several dents/possible welds right behind the "not for road use" portion. Are these normal or did someone try to jack the pipe in the wrong spot and then box it and return it? I know I'm probably paranoid-but after paying retail and getting charged tax for an out of state order, I want to make sure its right. Thanks for the help. Pics attached-click to enlarge.

Looks like a manufacturing flaw. Since they aren't available any more, I probably wouldn't worry about it. |

I had a bad place on one of my exhaust tips. Appeared to be a healthy chip that got coated DAve |

Yeah I wouldnt worry about it, you won't even be able to see them once they are on the bike. |

Thanks for the prompt responses. Further inspection with a bright flashlight down the exit pipes revealed that they are indeed welds-so much for the worrying. Can't wait to install it and get the TPS reset. Too bad I need to rack on another 150 miles, so I can have the TPS reset done with the 1000 mile service. Oh darn looks like I have to ride some more |
