There seem to be numerous people with a common pinging problem on the XB12X’s. I think that it would be beneficial for us all to contact Buell customer service so that they know the problem is widespread. I have sent a letter already, and Buell has already contacted me regarding the problem. How many of you have talked to Buell CS? |

44mag2, I think it might be a good idea that this pertain only to those with stock/street legal ECM's. It would be unfair for the factory to be looking at a condition that may or may not be associated with a non-stock component. In short the answer to your question should be limited to motorcycles having stock ECM's with stock maps. Just my opinion. |

I forgot, Stock ECM with Stock map- pinged like a ping pong table during warm weather. The bike pinged at low, medium and high rpm. The bike pinged under heavy load and even during slight throttle increases at highway speed. I was using 93 octane fuel. Retarded the timing until it quit pinging, 1mm at a time. |
