I'm a front brake type of guy and use the rear only because every once in awhile I actually need it. |

I'm a "use both brakes" kind of guy, but I decide when to use which brake based on the conditions. That being said, the last thing in the world I want is to lock either brake. Do I hear a vote for a Uly with ABS?? |

I just installed Lyndalls on the front, and the rears per the brand Al Lighton recommended. I don't remember the brand on the rear, but the front's mellowed out a little and the rears feel stronger. The brakes now feel way more balanced front/rear. I am very pleased with the change. Great job Al!! |

I am happy with the rear brake on the ULY...I have ridden many miles in the dirt as an AMA A-Class enduro rider....street riding and dirt ridng are not the same....My Aprilia Tuono has about the same rear braking power...very little...just right. |

Why wear out those tiny rear brake pads so often? I've accidentally locked up the rear brake in an emergency quick stop situation. The rear brake is plenty strong. Wise folks at Buell made it just right in my opinion. |

Hey Imonabuss; I bet your MV has a stronger rear brake than my Uly! But I bet your grin when riding it isn't any bigger than my grin when I'm on my Buell |

I use my rear brake every time I stop....I just don't expect much from it, and my rear pads seem to last about forever. Fact is, back when I learned to ride, only the rear brakes triggered the brake lights, so you always applied them some. On my first three street bikes (69 Suzuki T200, 72CB350, 74 CB750F) the brakes all sucked and you used everything you had front and rear. Nowadays, the front provides all the stopping power, but the rear still gets applied every time I stop. But I haven't found that it is lacking in any way on my Buell. When I ride my wife's SV650 with a dual pot brembo, it is WAY to easy to lock up the rear. You adjust, but it doesn't need to be as strong as it is. I can't imagine wanting more. Al |

I'd be willing to deal with a more powerful rear on the street, in exchange for better performance/usefulness on the fire-roads. Oh, and Chad the rear brake didn't cause Kurtis to wreck. It's because he's a chode. Cheers Brett |

Make sure oil hasn't dripped on your rr brakes. I found a leak partly because the brakes were so bad I was inspecting them and noticed oil had dribbled onto the rotor and pads- you can stand on the brake and it won't lock up. The muffler cowl channels the leak to the rear brake. |
