I need some help on this one. I just spoke with a windshield manufacturer down in Georgia called Parabellum and they will fit a free test windshield to a ULY if a ULY owner can get to their manufacturing facility. I'm way too far away but one of you BadWebbers might be close enough to help out in this matter. Here is their web site so that you can check out their windshield designs which are somewhat unique and closer to the rider. http://www.parabellum.com/ They'll have to custom fit the hardware and from the website photos it appears that they really know their business. If you are interested, please call Charly at 706 864 8051 and let me know here on BadWeb what is going on. Thanks. (Message edited by electraglider_1997 on July 05, 2006) |

The company is in Dahlonega, GA, north of Atlanta, about three hours from me. I'm tied up this month but if nobody else goes I'll buzz down and visit Charly the Tuna. |

I'll give him a call.. he's about 20 minutes north of my house... took my 950 for him to look at about a year ago.... he's a good guy. Might be a little tough to get over there in the next week or so.. will have to figure something out schedule wise. Will keep everyone informed on this thread. |

Steve/Mike, Can't wait to hear how it works out on the ULY. I really like the idea of having that cutout at the bottom to see the instruments and idiot lights. It also allows the use of the stock windshield at the same time for wet weather protection. You could keep the stock ULY shield in the tourpak for quick snap-on if rain was likely. Keep us posted about your findings once Charly installs that test shield. I sure hope that the test shield is of the type that attaches to the handlebars because mounting to the fairing will not be any better than the CeeBailey. Thanks for the interest guys. |

I called and talked to his wife today.. (this is their busiest time). She basically said he would call me back very soon ... he has to figure out when he has time to work on it with everything else that is going on. On a side note... she said there has been a lot of interest and inquires lately about the Uly. |

Mike, Maybe they are talking about me. Did you look at their website? Which shield are you interested in testing? I'm hoping you go for one tall enough to eliminate wind buffeting around your helmet. A handlebar attached one. Some of those in the photos look like they would bolt right on to me with maybe a little finagling with the handgard mounting area. |

I think they meant you and a fair number of other inquiries =) she said they have had quite a few recently (looks like you started something). As for windshield...I like my CeeBaily 2.5 for the summer, but I would definitely be looking for something larger/taller for the winter to keep the air off me. I will have to talk to Charly... based on previous experiance...he likes to look at the bike and will discuss options and their various pros/cons. (Message edited by gamdh on July 07, 2006) |

Oh.. I also have the Cee Bailey's #2Touring Windshield +16. I plan on taking this, the Cee Bailey +2.5 and the stock... hopefully it will give him some insight?? |

I've got the Cee Bailey +16 and it leaves much to be desired. The buffeting around my head is terrible. The Parabellum looks promising in that it has a more aerodynamic shape and is closer to the rider. I really like the mounting systems that Parabellum has. I'm thinking about how to modify the CB16+ to mount to the handlebars. Chances are it will not work out but I figure that I can't travel with the current buffeting (I'll go deaf"). Either way, I'm sure interested in Charly coming up with a ULY specific windshield. The more ULY folks that call him the faster he will see the potential $$$$ signs and get-er-done. Same problem I have with the CB +16... I'll take him all the windshields I have so I can point out the issues/positives with each. |

I have emailed him and expressed interest in a shield. I did tell him of my like for the Laminar Lip and it's shortcomings in cold weather. I have not received a response yet. |

If they had a handlebar mounted windscreen for the ULY I would order it today. I'll be buying a tall shield when they get it sorted out. |

Fyi.. Talked with Charley and Brenda, they will need my Uly for about 3 days to fit the initial version of the wind shield. I am going to try and drop it off with them early next week (hopefully Monday 17th)... if that happens I should have some feedback by the week end. |

Sort of...he had my bike for a few days this week and made his first prototype. He was not happy with it, but was really busy so did not get to do much after that first try (seems to have some ideas). I picked up the bike Thursday afternoon so I could ride today, but I'll be dropping the bike off for him again on Monday so he can continue... |

I emailed Parabellum and asked how they were coming with the ULY windshield and they emailed me back. I believe the ULY they are writing about is Gamdh's. Here's their response: <yes craig, a couple weeks ago we developed a prototype that looked pretty good but a quick test revealed refinement necessary, then our year's supply of scout fairing bodies came in and we've been scrambling to fill old back orders, but we are almost thru and will be getting the uly back in to finish it up within a week or so.> Me again. Sounds like they are actually testing to make sure it meets their standards before they start selling it. Hear that Cee Bailey?? That's how it should be done. |
