In a parking lot standing by my Uly the other day talking on the cell phone, when a Mom and two early teen boys walk past. I only heard part of the conversation but... Boy1: (very emphatically) COOL! Boy2: It must be loud, those things have Harley engines. Boy1: (Very emphatically) COOL! Fortunately, they drove off before I started up. Wouldn't want to disappoint. The "race kit" will help. What got me the most was that at least one of the kids knew at least something about Buells'. Kinda makes up for all of the people who ask; "It's a what?"

Riding home yesterday through Redondo Beach,CA. There was a warning sign, on the south bound side of Pacific Coast Highway, that a sound check was ahead. Tickets would be awarded to violators of the city's sound ordinance. |

Teeps, was there actually someone out there collecting sound data? I've seen signs around So Cal that say something about noise ordinance, but never seen an actual checkpoint. |

I continued my ride down PCH but did not see the actual sound check point. But I believe it was there on Saturday or would have been later in the afternoon, Sunday. The Palos Verdes (south of R.B.) police dept for sure is writing sound tickets, on the weekend. Speeding tickets too. |

There's an officer on PCH in Laguna Beach that does sound checks. Seems to be H-D focused though as he pulled over my friend on his Fat Boy with stage 1 mufflers on it, but didn't give me a glance on the Bandit 1200S I was riding with a Yosh race exhaust. He takes a drive by reading to have cause to light you up. Then he performs the US Forrest Service test (certain RPM, 45 degrees from the outlet at 24 inches). I was thinking WTF? He let my friend go, but how valid is the USFS test on a street bike? |

That's our Orange County Sherriff's at work. Never met a more anal group of pillow-biting jerks in my life. I've gone my whole life without ever receiving a moving violation, and since I moved here less than one year ago I've gotten TWO tickets and been arrested ONCE! I'm seriously thinking about selling this place and moving back to the ghetto where cops don't give a rats ass about me. |

here in Ft Lauderdale, on the "strip" (the part of the beach you can actually drive by and see the ocean) as we call it, there is an electronic sign saying noise ordinance enforcement ahead.... lots of bikes cruise the residential section of the strip and I think homeowners are making a big stink. The only time there was ever a block set-up was during the fort lauderdale bike show a couple months ago...they stopped us, but didn't check us for anything...I think they were looking for something a LOT noisier than 3 buells. |
