OK, I've got my bike at the dealer waiting for a new belt to be installed. (Original broke after 2800 miles of mild use.) Not that they would ever install an '05 belt on my '06 Uly but how do I determine which belt is on the bike? Is there a part number visible that I can use to determine the year of the belt? Also, I have been planning a trip to Yellowknife (Northwest Territories) at the end of the month. Should I take a spare belt? It wouldn't be easy to pack since it can't be twisted or looped too tightly. This will be a 4500 mile trip including a couple hundred miles of dirt highway. Buell's advertising makes it look like I shouldn't have any trouble but now I'm not too confident of the belt anymore. |

The Inuits have mail delivery from the states by what they call Carrier Goose. Works just like with pigeons except if they only have seasonal delivery and you have to shoot it out of the air. |

"you have to shoot it out of the air." What guage shotgun do you recommend, then? Hey! Maybe I can use the broken belt as a slingshot! You gotta be resourceful up there. |

I believe that there is no such thing as a '05 belt for a Uly. The Uly and the '06 XB12S long are the only 2 bikes that share that particular belt, and they were both intro'ed in '06 when the "new and improved" belt came to being. I'm not completely posetive on this, but I bet Daves could find out for sure. I now have a damaged spare belt and I really don't want to carry the POS on a long trip. They are not exactly small and they are easily damaged by rolling/creasing. One alternative one of my buddies suggested was to leave the spare with a friend and in case of a failure, have it o'nite shipped to wherever your stranded. (motel, resort, m/c shop, ect.) Hopefully your not 50mi into the wilderness or in the middle of nowhere when it happens. You could then use the broken belt to trap a wild boar then burn it to cook over and at least you wouldn't starve. |

there is no way to put a 05 belt on a Uly. The Uly belt only fits 06 Uly and XB12Ss bikes with the 54 inch wheelbase. |
