Can someone post the Cliffsnotes version of the primary chain adjustment procedure? My service manual won't arrive in time for the 1K service and my dealer can only do the service when I have to have the bike. Thanks. |

Paul, I'm pretty sure the primary adjustment procedure is the same for ALL Buells, in which case you can use the on-line manual for the 96-97 S-1's at BadWeb: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/Manuals/S1_1996-1997_Service/intro.pdf The thing that took me a couple of adjustments to pick up on is that the total slack in the chain has to be measured. Push the chain down until it's tight, then push it all the way up until it's tight. Measure the distance a fixed point on the chain moves between these extremes and adjust 'til it's in spec. |

Thanks, Hugh. Maybe I'll have time tomorrow. |
