I just noticed a post from Mike Kneebone, President of the Iron Butt Association over at advrider extolling the virtues of his new Ulysses. It's on this thread: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93685&page=11 To me, that looks like about the best informal endorsement the bike could get. |

Whodom, I sold him a set of heat barriers a few weeks ago on his way down south for a long trip. Very nice guy to deal with. |

>>Whodom, I sold him a set of heat barriers a few weeks ago on his way down south for a long trip. Very nice guy to deal with.<< Michael, Thank you for the kind thoughts but it is you that had to jump through hoops to get me the barriers on such short notice. You saved my butt from becoming fried toast! I literally purchased the bike when I wrote you and put it on a ship to Hawaii for the Aloha 1000 (1,000 miles in Hawaii in 24 hours) we were putting on. The barriers really helped a great deal. I rode all of 40 miles before I had enough and put them on. It made a lot of difference in the hot weather we had on parts of the ride. The weather blew a great picture opportunity though. I wanted to take a picture of barriers next to a steaming volcano vent in Volcano National Park, but it was poring rain every time I rode by the park on the Alhoa 1000 Mike |

Odie: Your barriers as better quality than the "stuff" they sell us for the Nextel Cup Cars. Keep up the good work. Tom (Message edited by BuellDualSport on February 12, 2006) |

Ironbutt: How did the Dunlops hold up on the roads over there. Any accelerated wear? Did you have time to make any "major" changes to the Uly before the ride? Thanks Tom |

Wow - you're not kidding. I've been following LD riding for some years, and if Mike Kneebone is trying out a Uly for LD riding, that says *a lot*! Very cool, Thanks for sharing. And Mike, good luck on the bike. Please keep us posted on how you think it performs and how it holds up to the long miles. Henrik |

Heat Barriers??? Wa-Wa-Wa. Wear good riding clothes and you don't feel any heat...How about a baby bottle holder? |

Adrian, some of us on here don't need to prove our manhood by riding uncomfortably. The heat barrier makes a differance in comfort especially in stop and go traffic. I like how my ass isn't being roasted. |

I don't really know for sure as my Uly only has 2500 kms but there is no heat on the seat issue with my machine. I don't know where this comes from and I certainly won't tell anyone it is a problem. Maybe it's just those who have the low seat and therefore less foam insulation. |

From what we have observed, the heat issue is more amplified on the low seat conversion. Just our observations. Ride'm |

I wear NIKE nylon workout pants (single ply) on the ULY quite often because I ride it over to Gold's Gym to work out. Every once in awhile that heat just starts to cook my right inner thigh. Must be when the fan kicks on. |

Hey Ironbutt I see you are just down the road in Chicago. Want to ride along on the "Dave's ride your Uly to the UP ride" the first weekend of May? |

The vented riding pants and jackets are rather cool in the summer and they also protect "your manhood".. "Dress for the crash not the ride" |
