Well, guess this is not the shield for me. Wind blast hits me right a eye level. I am 6'-2" with 32" inseam. Wear a Nolan flip face helmet. Noisy, disturbed air around the helmet. Could not image riding with this shield all day. It did take the blast off my chest though. I'm bummed. I am going to return it and start at the bottom with a +2. Having gone back and read the other reviews, I see that the reviews of the +14 and the +16 also mention noise and dirty air at the helmet, by folks at my height or close to it. I'd settle if I could get the wind blast off my shoulders and chest, and clean air around my helmet like the stock screen. I once had a Windvest on a FXR that worked well. It was just high enough to cut the wind blast, but left my head clear. Figure if I start at the bottom and work up, I'll get it figured out. Will post the results. | ||

Frank, That's the direction I'm headed also. Looking to get the air blast up high on my chest / shoulders with clean air around my helmet. I ordered the +2.5" a couple of days ago. I'm 6'3" with a 34" inseam so we probably sit about the same hight on the bike. | ||

Frank beat me to it. I was going to write a report on the Cee Baily +12 which I installed and test rode today. After a 60 mile run through rain and even a little dryness, rare around these North West parts, I agree with Frank. The shield did wonders for my chest, but the wind blast over the top seemed to hit me square in the throat. This made for lots of helmet noise. There was no "buffeting" just the constant rush of air over the shield. I really did like the width of the shield, the way it looked, and the quality, even though I did have to break out the dremel tool to make it fit. What I think is a +10 would be the hot ticket. So I plan to cut the shield down, and inch by inch, until I am happy. I expect that by the time I reach 2 or 3 inches, I will be giddy as a school girl! I have done this many times before using both a router and a band saw. Both worked equally well. Just tape both sides with duct tape and have at it. Then sand the edge to make it look pretty. I'm doing my best in keeping up with all of the posts about the Cee Bailey's shield because I'm trying to decide which one I should get  I'm 6'4" and so far I don't recall anyone having good results with any of the shields. I too would like to relieve some of the wind stress on my chest and shoulders but not at the expense of fighting buffeting around my head. With me being stationed overseas, the delivery time is about 7 - 10 days more each way and that would be a real pain in the a$$ trying to find a shield that will work. I learned the hard way on my BMW GS that taller doesn't equal better. I tried a number of screens and ultimately ended up with the Aeroflow screen. On the Uly, the stock screen is fine other than the windblast hitting me between my stomach and chest. I'm betting a +2 would move the wind up enough to give me some relief at high speeds, but still keep my helmet in clean air. | ||

After my +6 blew off they replaced all three of them, with two +2's and a stock that is wider. Later they called and offered one of the taller screw-on to test, (not too sure of the model) but it seems to be 12 inch or so. It didn't work as well as the +2 way too much noise. Sunday after I am finished on the dyno I am going to try the wider stock height. ... You know these Buell guys may just have got this right the first time? ... Terry | ||

Just got the 16" shield from Daves. Installed it and took a ride into NYC for the Motorcycle show. Well the wind blast hits me from my nose up. The noise was unbearable at any speed over 60 MPH. I am 6'0" tall. Just for kicks when I got home I taped up a piece of plastic to the shield and went for a ride. I needed to extend the shield to 21" before the air went over my head. The test speeds were up to 90 MPH. I will be going back to my stock shield once it gets warmer out. Also the shield I got, the black tint area does not cover the dash area all the way so from the front you can see some of the dash. Did anybody else get one like this? I will be calling Cee Baileys about this and see if they would make a 21". | ||

I bet that is an inaccurate statement  Any anony's want to show a picture of 50 to 100 prototype screens, complete with airtunnel test results for riders of varying heights and at varying speeds? (Disclaimer... I have no inside information from Buell, but I am an engineer and I know the personality of the men and women who design and build my bikes...) | ||

Think I got figured out for now. Was going to exchange the 12" euro shield for a +4 1/2, but I am heading to Death Valley this next week and didn't want to chance not getting the shield in time. I took the jig saw to it and cut off 3" to get a bolt on +4 1/2. Stock shields are 4 1/2, so the over all is 9". The Bailey's 4 1/2 uses the rubber grouments, which I am not too sure about on the taller shields, so by cutting the 12" I got one that screws on. Big improvement over the 12". No more disturbed air around the helmet. Wind now hits me at the bottom of the helmet. Air is just to the top of my shoulders. So, as most things in life, its a compromise. Air not as clean as with stock shield, but better that the 12" Air is off my chest and shoulders, not a much as with the 12", but way better than stock. Touched the Century mark, and didn't get blown off the seat. I would say if your 6'2", its the ticket. The +2 1/2 will be too low for your shoulders and chest, but will be a bit more quite. Had to dremell three holes to make it fit right and the bend is not cupped enough to fit the bike quite like the stock shield is. I hope Bailey's improves on the design a bit. | ||

I sent an email to the folks at Laminar Lip. They are currently looking for a test mule to make a lip for the Ulysses. Anyone who hasn't tried one of the lips is doing themselves a disservice. They were amazingly well. | ||
