After visiting the local H-D dealership for some chrome bits for the Fatboy, I was smacked in the face by this tall black super moto style bike posing side on with bronzed pipes. Being an off road fan and having a couple of dirt bikes, a CRF250X enduro and an old Yam XT500,I went home stuck them on e-bay and returned 3 days later for a test ride, I was 90% convinced this was the bike for me to have sports bike fun sitting up & not lying down, and a bit of hard surface green laning (if it stays legal).I left the dealership with a big grin but slightly confused about the hair-drier noise cooling the oil/rear cylinder. Before I jumped straight in I reviewed the competition and set off for a back to back comparison with the BMW 1200GS. I got on this and was surprised about the lack of character these bikes have and after 20 minutes I took it back not impressed and went home to sleep on a decision. Next day me and a mate went over to the h-d dealership and took out a ulysses and 1200 lightening long, the dealer said be back within an hour, after some great fun we realise we had been out for over an hour and were a good half hour from the dealership, so we phoned in and explained we would be late. My mate then tried the Uly and his nickname is "stumpy" and only has an inside leg of 31" but managed ok and at the lights he just slightly leant it over to the one side, when we got back I was 110% convinced this was much better than the BMW (apart from the deprecation) and purchased one of the first ones to hit the Uk shores. Done 250 miles on it this weekend and finding it very frustrating running it in after riding the demo. Pulled up in stratford bike park at the weekend and a lot of people were drawn to it (probably the fan noise) A victory rider came over and said how much he liked it and we noticed the indicators were exactly the same on both bikes. Are there any other Uk owners out there???? As both my local dealerships (midlands) reckon they hav'nt sold any yet. |

All being well I'll be picking up my new Uly within the next few days so there will be another one on the North Wales/Cheshire roads soon. Like you I road the demo bike a couple of weeks ago & was well impressed. I'll be trading in my 1200 H.D. Sportster for the Uly, in comparison the Uly is faster, smoother and a helluva lot more comfortable for the pillion. I borrowed a XB9S last year for a blast down to Oxford and back (from Chester) but wasn't tempted to buy one (& at the time I worked at a Harley dealership) but the Uly is another thing again, one test ride & I was smitten!. |

Crikey, a couple more and we could start our own owners club, did you go for a black or orange one? |

Fadboy, You struck a cord in me man! I used to ride an XT600 and when I'm cruising up the road my Uly feels just like it only with more power and less steering lock. It's just like a big cool "double thumper"! Good call. Steve |

IF I was living in the UK, I'd have one, I will just have to put up with the one i have here in the US, I was in the UK two weeks ago in Norfolk, I really missed my Uly on some of my favourite old roads. |
