We picked the new Uly up last Thursday and had a leisurely ride 1000 Klms (600 miles)from Newcastle (just north of Sydney) to Caloundra (just north of Brisbane) The Muell is fitted with a full race kit, custom low seat and twin driving lights, we're waiting for delivery of side panniers! Wish list! Lower first gear for 'off-road stuff' higher windsceen, get buffeted above 70mph! (Message edited by blake on October 21, 2005) |

Hi, What can you tell me about those driving lights you've added on there? Are they wired in with a relay or hard wired? I like that they are not chrome, wonder if they're available here in the States. Thanks, nice looking bike and a very nice area to ride. MikeJ. |

Thanks Mike, they're hard wired, heaps of light! I have a problem with them, on high beam all 4 are on, they drain 220w (4 x 55w) plus the Fuel Injection 180w-190w, the bike only puts out 380w so it could drain the battery! I am looking for 40w bulbs for the driving lights! |

This info. is from the Buell XB12X web site:
quote:38-amp permanent magnet 3-phase alternator with solid-state regulator (481 watts at 3,000 rpm, 494 watts peak)
I don't know how much current is drawn by the bike, haven't gotten my FSM yet. But there is more power available than you suggest. For my needs the stock lighting is adequate. Regards, Jim in Santa Barbara |

PS. On my bike the low and high beam lights operate independently except when using the flash to pass button. Seems like I have plenty of juice left over for GPS and anything else I can think of. Which is precisely how I like it. Regards, Jim in Santa Barbara |

There's nothing in the owner's manual, the voltages I'm talking about came from the tech who installed the lights, he said that and to turn off high beam when stationary as they would drain the battery! Seems like they'll be ok! We have suicidal 6' kangaroos here, you want to see them coming at night! |

Just been told that the 3 week delivery on my panniers (due now) won't be until late November, anyone else had this problem? |

On the wind buffeting above 70 mph. You might try removing the clear windscreen. When I removed the flyscreen from my Cyclone, it became much more comfortable to ride at speed. Less wind up top, more down low, nice and easy. |

>>>>Just been told that the 3 week delivery on my panniers (due now) won't be until late November, anyone else had this problem? Yeah. . . and the problem is ebbing. Part of it was the Buell folks saying, "yeah, it's good but we want these 4,834 changes" late in production. Another element was that the bagmaking Germans, as most Europeans, see the month of August as we in America see Christmas morning. The last, and best part, is that the % of Ulysses folks ordering bags is better than 2 times what was forecast. Bottom line is that when you get them they are going to be great and the pipeline is being filled. Enjoy the Buell! Court |

Enjoyment, oh yeah, we've put 1500 miles on the Muell now, heading to Melbourne from Brisbane. The bags would have been the icing on the cake! |

Bottom line is that when you get them they are going to be great and the pipeline is being filled. I can vouch for that, the hardcases are great, the topcase in particular is high quality stuff. Rode through lots of rain, without leaking. Lots of capacity. I loaded up about 80lbs. of gear, no problem and had the seat free for pillon. |
