It is pouring down rain here in Pa. So I was tinkering in my garage today. I wanted to try a different handle bar on my Ulysses. I had an old S1 handle bar lying around so I thought I’d try them. I’m going to Daytona in a week for Biketoberfest and with all the highway riding I’m going to do I wanted to lean into the wind a little bit more. I didn’t install the bars yet but I found this old windshield that used to be mounted on my Fatboy. I got out the Windex and cleaned off about 5 years of grease and grim and held it up next to the Uly. This thing just might fit! Maybe the rain will let up tomorrow and I’ll get to road test it. I have no idea who makes this windshield but I bought it at Ft. Washington H-D/ Buell about 8 years ago.

I think its a National Cycle Deflector Screen, I'll test ride it tomorrow. look like this one http://www.nationalcycle.com/catalogue/FramesetDeflectorScreens.html It looks like the bottom can be cut and holes drilled to mount to the fly screen. I wonder if I can get some of the snaps that hold the stock screen on? I'll have to talk to my dealer....than again it might be too much for the plastic snaps? might need to bolt it fast.. |

Two_buells: On Tuesday you should call National Cycle and talk to the sales director or whoever is in charge of new product development-then e-mail him your pictures. It would be a snap (how about that pun) for them to adapt that Deflector DX screen with a Buell attachment system. Some aftermarket company is going to make a lot of money selling larger windshields for our motorcycle. I already e-mailed Cee Bailey's and gave them the challenge. |

I have this same one mounted to my Uly. I have trimmed the bottom so that it sits behind the original shield. What I found was that I get a lot more wind blast in the face and neck area. I had this on my XB9S before this for a few years. I found that I only used it when it was very cold out. I will try to get some pictures soon. Mike |

The screen looks good and I imagine that the wind could be deflected a bit more if the top lip was curved up. I'm 6'4" and will be riding in Europe at a fairly good clip and will need a bit more protection from the wind/rain. Please keep us posted on what you find out. |

Hey tell me about those extra driving lights. Are they PIAAs? Where and how are they mounted? How do you like them? Are they worth the high $$$? |

They are $29 lights from pep boys. 55 watt Halogens. Tonight was the first time I rode with them. Much better with them on. I zip tied them to the headlight grill. with a tab of silicone between them and the stock headlight. So far so good. |

I'm 5'11" and the shield needs to be a little higher or needs it turned up at the top. But it does take some of the wind off my shoulders. I'm going to do some adjusting and will be back with some more pictures. I spent most of the day installing Sirius Satellite Radio on the Uly..check out the other thread. |

I've got 2 55w driving lights, all 4 are lit up on high beam, downside is that they draw 220, plus the FI fraws 180-190, the bike puts out approx 380, bummer! I'm looking for some 40w bulbs for the driving lights! |

Response from Ken at Cee Bailey's: I have a dealer sending me a windshield for us to pattern and make a new mold for a windshield, and I just went to the HD dealer this weekend to look at the bike, I believe I have a simple solution for the windshield that will bring it back a bit toward the rider, and add a slight forward flip to the shield to get the ram air toward the top of the riders head. It should take us about four to five weeks to develop the shield though. Thanks, Ken @ CBAP inc., |
