Picked up my bike yesterday. I absolutely love it. Way more then I expected from the demo ride. I want to use this bike as a sport tourer so I swapped out the front fender with a Lightning front fender to give it more of an ST look. In addition to the fender you will need the wire-form bracket for the front brake line and the bracket that attached the headlight assembly to the triple tree. I used the Lightning front bracket but it has to be bent and it just makes it. (Message edited by brotherbuell on September 29, 2005) |

Looks sharp Brotherbuell! Let us know if the fender conversion cuts down on the high speed handlebar movement. |

Will do Bosh...as soon as I get passed the break in. It's raining and blowing about 50 mph today in CT. Man this is torture. This bike just wants to go fast! |

Javadog, As requested. Fender: M1662.02A8MW Wireform front brake bracket: H0418.02A8A Headlight bracket: M0619.1AD Bolts for headlight bracket (2) AA0404.11CVB Just a reminder that the headlight bracket takes a little creativity to make it work. |

Many thanks. Let us know if there is too much mud splatter up into the engine crevices. I might look at the slightly larger CF fender from Al at American Sportbike. I'll also be going with the lowered seat hydraulic clutch and bar end mirrors to lower my aerodynamic profile and drag coefficient. The in flight refueling I haven't quite worked out yet. |

That fender is seweeeeet! Change the bars and mirrors and you'll have a completely different bike. Steve |

The seat height turned out not to be much of an issue for me. I can get the balls of both feet of the ground and the bike is so well balanced it really wasn't a problem on the ride home. With that said, I will still get the low seat when it becomes available. I think it will add more control with low speed maneuvers and with a passenger aboard. Other than adding a few more db's from the right pipe I like the setup as is. The Ulysses just seems to do what you thinking about doing. The trick is to keep thinking! |

Some other pictures (close ups) of the XB front fender on the Uly are here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/131182.html#POST493947 I fit one to the bike first thing when I picked up the Uly,and while I think it is aesthetically improved over the beak, the slider tube isn't well protected with the stock XB fender and the rear section is a bit short. So the one I'm going to develop will correct those deficiencies. The CF front fender pulls a big amount of unsprung mass off the bike. The stock one is pretty heavy. Al |
