Hi, I'm just about to order a Uly, but I'm a little bit worried about the reported noise from the fan. Could you please give feedback on your experience? Is this a problem when driving, or just at slow speed? Any comments? GO |

To me it's not bad at all, just part of the bike. They run the most when the bikes are new, and run much less after the engine is broken in and isn't generating as much heat (an indication to me that it really is needed, isn't it?). To me, without great hearing admittedly, the noise when riding is very slight, and as soon as I am up to speed I can't hear it at all. You definitely hear it when you shut the bike off, but when you know why it's running (cools the oil during heat soak), you can explain to your buddies why it's so cool! |

after going 100+ on the uly im so deaf from the wind blast I don't hear the fan hehe. er ... just joking what he said about it going on less as it breaks in definitely holds true for my bike. at 7+k miles, the fan is only on temporarily after turning off the engine, never for more than a minute or so. in some very hot areas, the fan stayed on high for a bit longer. i havn't done much low speed riding (i.e.- city riding, but when I have the fan seems to be pretty loud most of the time) I actually feel better hearing the thing running, doing its job. The fan seems to have 2 settings. 1 is pretty loud. But it is what it is. It's a great bike. |

When I first picked up the bike the fan ran a lot. I was going to take it back to see if the temp sensor was buggered. When I hit a certain mileage the fan operation was highly curtailed. I think they may have a programm running that makes the fan operate at a different temp untill a certain mileage is reached. I hardly hear it now except when I shut it off. |
