A great first glimpse, and hints of a "sport touring" comparo to come soon. Time to renew that subscription www.motorcycle.com |

A great first glimpse? Reep they we're gushing pretty heavily, panned the lightning long a bit "...unless you want something that handles like an old S2......." But a great review none the less. Some good shots of the Uly off road. Crap I'm almost getting the urge to go look at one now! |

Yeah, they did actually cover a lot of ground, and clearly understood the bike. They had some nice backhanded compliments for the XB9SX as well. Some teasers:
quote:The Ulysses XB12X caused an acute outbreak of smiles in the first three blocks of our press ride. As my group approached the first red light like a pack of eight year-olds on BMX bikes... rear tires howling and smoking as we slid to a stop, we immediately started trying to tell each other how much we liked these things. As the light turned green, we took off with some of our front tires on the pavement and headed for the freeway onramp.
quote:What I did notice was that the Ulysses is super easy to ride. I don't just mean relatively light steering or easy shifting; I mean it seems to flow through this stuff without any particular effort on my part.
quote:What didn't I like? The XB12X's heavier weight, longer wheelbase and relaxed steering geometry mean it doesn't quite offer the devil on your shoulder urge to ride like a hooligan on pavement. However, on the other XBs you never get the devil on your shoulder telling you to go explore that dirt road, so I'll consider it a wash.
Actually, I disagree. I get tempted by all sorts of dirt roads. The 9sx actually handles them pretty well if I keep the speed down. That ought to sell a few MO subscriptions to the Buell faithful |
