Interesting tidbit on the Buell thread on Advrider in response to a poster that said there's clearly nowhere to attach luggage to the new bike based on the MCN photo: "Someone needs to tell Buell that the new 3 pc hard luggage in the '06 accessory catalog labeled "Ulysses hard cases" won't fit their new bike" Man, this just keeps getting better and better... |

I seriously doubt that is an accurate image of the new Buell in the ad. It shows enough styling cues to get people talking but doesn't show any of the new tech. (Message edited by tbs_stunta on July 20, 2005) |

Yeah that's a pretty lousy photoshop job too. covered up the cityX's "tank logo" with a black tankbag. I really hope the new bike has more fuel capacity and an actual rear seat or at least someplace to lash a bag to. I was interested in buying an XB9 but they only come in one color? WTF?! That's totally retarded. Back in 2000, the factory allowed any combination of color frame with any color of body panels. Henry Ford: "Any color you want as long as it's BLACK" |

I guess in order for the fuel tank to be bigger, the frame has to be bigger. I am not in the market for a dual sport, but I am looking forward to seeing the final result. I hope it kicks-butt |

I agree with the one color option on the 9 it was retarded (even though i bought it anyway). i feel they miss the boat company wide with that kind of stuff sometimes. i know the softail models are finally getting a change that should have been done like 2 years ago. now is online on buell web site the movie is like before ... there is no way to save the flash movie and working on that ? after the first left corner on the right side there is a car that shine like a star and surely you can se the bike reflex on that |

I don't think Trojan dabbles in photoshop. But this is not the Ulysses, clearly. There are apparently three new models coming out, correct? |

Nicozz- once the flash video starts playing you can right click with your mouse (assuming a Windows platform) and select "back" or "forward" from a pop-up menu which will allow you to step one frame at a time. |

On the video when the text comes up it looks like some kind of seat covering texture. I wonder if that is what the grain will be like on the seats. |

New models will probably hit showrooms within the next 2 weeks. Last year at the dealer show, bikes began to ship to dealers the same day they were released. I think that is one of the new colors available on the 06 models. I also do not believe that is the new dual sport. I leave for Denver in the morning. Maybe I can find out where they are unloading the bikes and sneak some pics. |

LMAO...I just want to patiently wait for the real intro complete with photo's, specs, accessory listing and hopefully a 360 degree panorama. I have to admit that this is the first Buell that has peaked my interest since the X1. Anon, or anyone in the know....Any clues on when it will hit the dealerships? In particular, those in the Milwaukee and Appleton area. Have a great day. |

i would say some should already be in route to dealers with others leaving shortly. but i am just basing that on the fact we been building 06 softails for about a month and the warehouse has to be packed since we run almost 400 a day. |

Picture doesn't make sense, street tires, still very little ground clearance. Dirt roads I'd ride on would trash the low exhaust shown in the picture. |

How do you imagine a dirt road would "trash" a steel muffler? You mean chip the paint? MCN strikes out again? LOL! Where's Rocket? |

Outtie, I'll have Caralee Baxtor call or email me the moment they get one in. I don't think it'll be tough for us to get a test ride |

Isn't the purpose of a dual sport to get you through rough terrain, several inches of water, or anything that gets in your way. Certainly Buell considered this in exhaust placement. I was expecting more clearance. Guess we'll find out the real deal on Saturday. |

I know an "R" will make it through about 1' of water. Maybe more... About 5" above my ankles anyway. Keep the R's up ... Plenty of back-pressure . |

After looking more closely at the photo, I too think it has been photo shopped. I think the first pic is the true rendering. |

I wondered about the clearance as well. But today, when I parked my 9sx next to a buddy with a brand spanking new V-Strom, guess who had better ground clearance? And which of the two had sensitive fragile parts dangling down there and which had pretty much a steel plate? The XB exhaust *could* use some metal plates that slide over the exhaust clamps though, so you could slide the bike down that exhaust without worrying as much about cutting the straps. |

I've bashed my sraps a few times and they seem to hold up well. I think that's a good portion of the reason there are two on the back. The "weak" point in the ground clearance equation may be the oil lines coming off the bottom of the swingarm for an Adv/Sport type XB. BTW... Are we now going to have a "Dirt Frame" section here at the BadWeb? Still waiting to hear about the "other" model . |

so far the XB12's have a Black Tank/Frame/Swingarm, XB9's have Clear/Silver color |

Dave S. in Appleton doesn't expect to see his first bike until sometime in September. All this buzz and I won't even see one in person for another month |

If it is a true Dual Sport that can be outfitted for serious rally, I have a pal named Charlie Rauseo who has done Paris Dakar x2 and is currently a KTM mounted privateer. He has appeared in Cycle World a few times and hangs with the likes of Jimmy Lewis from time to time. Intersting fellow with a degree from Yale and a constitution of iron. He has been a guest of American Sport Bike Night 3x's and has shown us slide presentations of his exploits. I wonder what Charlie will think of the new Ulysses? Since I just bought my boy his first dirt bike, I have been studying dual sports so I could have something to chase him with to keep an eye on him in the outback...C'mon, 7/23!
